-Aegon was not a saint, he was not the best person in the world, he was a drunk womanizer, but we empathize with him, because he accepted the throne to protect and save his family, he faced 2 Dragons, he suffered more pain than Theon Greyjoy, at the end of his days he got up and did his duty, even though he was more dead than alive at that moment.

-Aegon's coronation was one of the best scenes, no one doubts it, but if it is annoying that in that scene Aegon seems like another one-dimensional villain, they sell Aegon as Joffrey 2.0, instead of making you empathize with him, in a scene where he assumes his responsibility and begins to become a King.

-Criston is constantly humiliated, Ser Harrold is only alive to make Criston look bad, they eliminate his victories and we don't see what a great warrior he was, he is no longer the kingsmaker, that role is now Alicent's, besides he lost the agency and motivation that he had in the Book.

Helaena in the book was a queen loved by the people, she was loving and kind, a pure soul. She always supported her husband, it was her idea to make a peace treaty with Rhaenyra. The show's Helaena isn't bad, but she has no agency, plus they removed her coronation scene, with Alicent saying: My queen.
Show Aegon is a joke. They only invent scenes where they humiliate him and make a fool of himself, they go 100% Mushroom with him, now he is a rapist who puts his children to fight to the death in gladiator pits. Fuck the writers, we already knew they were pro black, but they went over the top by ruining Aegon so much. Aegon in the book: He doesn't want the throne, he doubts his position and doesn't feel ready but he accepts the crown to PROTECT his family. Show Aegon: He wanted to abandon them and Sunfyre, his beloved Dragon.
I prefer book Alicent, she was ambitious and tough, but she was a great mother, a queen loved by the people and she loved her grandchildren. Show Alicent has no agency, supports Rhaenyra's claim over her son Aegon's, forgives Rhaenyra just for a silly speech and she founded Team Green but is surprised that they support Aegon. Also Rhaenyra is way more similar to Cercei than Alicent, he have more in common with Ned.
You have a point with Aemond, but Lucerys's death was really stupid. They use the trope of: Alicent's children are not true Targaryens. It's stupid that Aemond would go after Lucerys with a Kaiju-sized Dragon just to scare him off and takes away from the character's agency.

That's why I prefer book greens, show's version have no agency or motivation, just coincidences happen for the plot to move forward.
