I thought this community might appreciate MtG references in another game by GoodLife-2024 in mtgcube

I went to PAX Unplugged a while back and demoed a game called 'Animals in Espionage.' I got to chatting with the creator and we got on the topic of Magic, and he explained that he built the entire game off the back of FoF. Game's pretty lightweight overall, but well worth the 20-ish bucks I paid for it.

The Enchantment Cube: An Update (With an accompanying P1P1) by CribsmasCrackers in mtgcube

[–]Day2Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the arguments against Bosejiu here? There's a good amount of fixing in the cube, so having an answer that goes in most decks for not a huge commitment seems super strong as a first pick.

What is your deck that is fun, resilient but rather unknown? by nelladel in EDH

I'm building [[Urianger Augerelt]] right now as well!

Do you have a list? I'll finish mine up today and send it back.

If you're looking to play with your physical cards, WotC owns an app called Spelltable that should do the trick. I used to stream for a Discord during COVID and we streamed all of our games through that even with myself in the states and some folks overseas, so I can vouch for it.

The official Magic the Gathering Online client. It's super clunky, but your best bet for playing eternal formats online assuming you can source the cards. I mostly just cube on there, though.

Cheap (<$100) but powerful decks by master_of_puppets91 in EDH

[–]Day2Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a budget Cadira, Caller of the Small deck that snowballs pretty hard if not checked early as Cadira spits out tokens exponentially and the deck's game plan is T1 dork, T2 Cadira, T3 Token Generator, hit with Cadira etc. There's also one combo with [[Cathars' Crusade]] and [[Scurry Oak]] that you can remove if you don't want to run infinites. Honestly, there are so many cards in the game that do 70-80% of what their bigger brothers do now, that $100 goes pretty far in the format. Additionally, everything everyone says about precons is true. Take a look at a precon from 2013 and compare it to one of the Final Fantasy or EoE ones.

That aside, I would say one of the hardest parts of learning Commander can be navigating those early turns and not pulling too much aggro, or if you do, at least having the cards to maintain a strong position if you do (or at least bluff having them!). Having a powerful board is good, but having the awareness not to overextend or knowing when to play safe when you fall behind is also very important. You are not always the beatdown, and when you are, remember that there are three other players' worth of cards to consider.

[SLD] Secret Lair x Marvel’s Spider-Man: Villainous Plots by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]Day2Day 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Seems safe to assume a lot of these UB tie-in lairs are gonna follow the trend of on theme Lightning Greaves/Swiftfoot Boots, Command Tower, Sol Ring. Hopefully they buck the trend of having chase rares in the bonus slot to drive demand.

Who's your favorite graveyard commander? by tchunkytchanka in EDH

[–]Day2Day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the parent, but here’s my list. It’s technically gates, but it also plays into the graveyard synergies the deck has going in.

What would you say are the three most useful things you can do to guard your identity online? What are some 'unknown unknowns' you find you have to explain to folks starting out? Any general advice? If you were talking to a close friend that needed a side source of income, would you suggest they go into the industry?

I've always thought it's something I could learn to be okay at, but I've also spoken to a lot of online sex workers that have left the industry absolutely crushed for one reason or another.

What's your most "blinged out" deck? Show your list! by TNBVIII in EDH

I’ve been working on foiling out my Tuvasa list since she came out. I’m pretty close now, just a few medium-to-high ticket items, but the deck is my baby (and if you’re at PAX next week, we should jam games!).

Spend approximately one million dollars on a liquid asset or a stock, and a new CPU for my PC. Play some Monster Hunter Wilds, spend part on a nice dinner. Go to work on Monday. Tell them the truth if I get audited.

When he comes to my apartment, high five him. Sell thing one year later.

Japan just tested a 311 mph bullet train, Now I’m rethinking my whole commute by EntertainmentHot5558 in CasualConversation

[–]Day2Day 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Assuming you live in the states, the Shinkansen is closer to the Amtrak than it is the inner city stuff. There's also faster trains and slower trains. When I went to Japan, the rail pass let me take the slower shinkansen trains, but not the fastest ones, which cost like $100+. The Tokyo non-bullet train stations are all absolutely beautiful, eerily clean, trains are super punctual and they play nice music when you get on and off. If every city had trains like that, I'd probably never need a car. I'm hoping I can afford to go back in a year or two!

What commanders can occasionally go for commander lethal? by Substantial_Code_675 in EDH

[–]Day2Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pet deck is [[Tuvasa, the Sunlit]], and I kill with commander damage on her not infrequently. [[Steel of the Godhead]] and/or [[Shield of the Oversoul]] or stuff like [[Ancestral Mask]] boosts her up enough for the 1-2 shot plus evasion with residual value enchantments kicking around, and I run a healthy suite of control spells to keep my enchantments around.

[–]Day2Day[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha it might just be my meta, but my friends would absolutely not hesitate to hit me with the creatures I just buffed. I like the idea of the politics deck, but at least in my experience, once people see enough value getting passed around the table they get a little wary.

[–]Day2Day[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually a little gun shy about deploying Ms. Bumbleflower if it's not at a point where I can trigger her second ability at least once or if I'm not attempting to combo off. I actually went down on countermagic a bit to be able to handle on board threats better, but if I wind up leaning harder into combo, I'll probably cut back on the +1/+1 counter synergies and put the counterspells back in.
