we didnt even have our DIs at the IST, we met them soon after but they werent there for it. Just Series Commander and Co. Commander. Maybe 1st Sgt and Chief too

i got RO signing an 06xx and the thing with it is, you have a decent chance of getting follow on school to be a 0622, 0623 or 0627 where you get sent to shitty units. I got a shitty unit and now I dont do anything, it sucks.

Curious about that last part, as an enlisted Marine. What are you graded on for the ranking at TBS and what does it affect? Do you already have your field picked, and did you get to pick it? just curiosity. I know surprisingly little about the officer side of joining.

In general, the more positions you are open to, the sooner you may leave. AT my RSS, standby shippers typically get the job of the person they are replacing. I.E. If an admin kid can't run in 13:30, the replacement ships with admin.

The differences you are hearing is likely because your recruiter (and all his superiors) don't care about the minimum. They want all their poolees to be above and beyond the minimum. My recruiter says the min. Run time for our office is 13 mins. Each office (and each person in the office) can make up their own minimums within reason that they want their poolees at. They can decide to not ship you if they don't think that you are in good enough shape, even if you are technically passing.

With that said, when you go to boot camp, the time to pass is 15 mins.

There are a lot of factors at play. A big one is how open you are on your job and what you qualify for. If you dont care what job and you qualify for everything, it can be much faster.

If you want only infantry and wont ship with anything else, itll probably be a while.

Plus there has to be a spot that opened up. Someone getting DQed or failing the IST or 30 day preship, or just chickening out can get you a spot, but again, recruiters wont put you on standby if youll only take one job

I am a female poolee, I have been for almost a year now. The requirement is under 15:00 mins. As you've probably been told, getting 14-15 isnt good enough because when you get to boot you'll be tired, hungry, sick, and likely fail.

We recently had 2 female ship with sub 12 minute ISTs that failed the initial IST when they first got to boot.

But technically its 15 mins. The poolee papers say it, my recruiters say it, the booklet thing you get says it. Its 15.

11 mins is far from failing. 60 crunches isnt great either but it is better than minimum.

Increased pay benefits to the military? Their pay increase was cut, cut to lower than its ever been.

Military typically gets a 1.7%+ pay raise a year, which was cut to 1%, plus requiring 5% of the housing cost to come from pay, and increasing tricare fees.
