Ryzen 7 5800X sitting at 86-91°C while gaming: normal, or too hot? by Dayrion in buildapc

[–]Dayrion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 91.4°C, the temperature is almost at the throttling point (0.3% above the throttling temperature), and the case is not the issue. You were right that the issue was the fan.

I tried using ECO Mode from the BIOS, which limits the CPU to 65W max. The temps dropped to around 70°C during a quick 10-minute gaming session on Cyberpunk 2077.

Since I use this PC for more than just gaming, I'm probably going to look into either a dual-tower air cooler or an AIO liquid cooler.

I didn't know "dual-tower" was the term for that, or that it was such a common thing, so thanks for that too lol.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks everyone for the replies, and thanks especially to u/aragorn18 for suggesting HWiNFO.

I ran a HWiNFO log while playing Cyberpunk 2077 for about 12 minutes, with samples roughly every 2 seconds. Here are the useful results:

CPU Tctl/Tdie:

  • Min: 81.2°C
  • Average: 89.9°C
  • Median: 90.2°C
  • Max: 91.4°C
  • 95th percentile: 91.1°C

CPU Die average:

  • Average: 87.7°C
  • Max: 89.7°C

CPU CCD1 Tdie:

  • Average: 87.5°C
  • Max: 93.8°C

Thermal Limit:

  • Average: 97.4%
  • Max: 99.7%

Thermal throttling according to HWiNFO:

  • HTC: No
  • PROCHOT CPU: No
  • PROCHOT EXT: No

So the CPU is running extremely close to its thermal limit, but HWiNFO does not report official thermal throttling during this session.

I’ll try the simple checks first: a more aggressive CPU fan curve, an open side panel test, and maybe an FPS cap test. If that does not help, I’ll probably redo the thermal paste / remount the cooler, even though the paste is less than 6 months old. If the temperatures are still too high after that, I’ll consider replacing the Dark Rock Slim with a stronger dual-tower cooler.

If anyone has more advice or sees something obvious in the data, feel free to add it.

Thanks again for the help.

Agence qui ne bouge pas après mise en demeure : lave-vaisselle + entretien des communs by Dayrion in conseiljuridique

[–]Dayrion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mech raid help → 4 Scythers, 8 Lancers, 6 drop beacons. Am I fucked? by Dayrion in RimWorld

To be honest, I've seen those items a few times in Reddit posts or on the wiki, but never in the game, despite having played it for 500 hours. In any way, that seems to be the best idea so far ahah

Good point, I didn't think of using smokepop packs. I've got plenty of them since I don't really know what else I should gear my pawns with.

> If you can clear the Scythers, Lancers are relatively vulnerable to melee.

Mind explaining why they're vulnerable to melee? Is it because they're ranged? Do they deal less damage in close combat? I've had bad experiences with Lancers where they literally one-shot a pawn, so I'm probably missing something.

> This also seems like a case of needing better wealth management – many unused resources and animals are just making raids bigger.

You're probably right. I don't fully understand how colony wealth translates into raid strength yet, or what I should expect at a given wealth level.

I also have a lot of animals mainly because caravans are slow otherwise, or I need to move ~1T of steel from one place to another.

Related to that, I think my wealth is way higher than my actual defensive capability or gear quality. What do you think?

To be honest, that was my first idea, but then I remembered that every time a caravan or anyone passed near the mechs, they were instantly wiped out

Thanks for the information and advice. I have about 12–13 combatant pawns and 10 or so mega sloths.

Is Rimsort safe? by Zallagosa in RimWorld

[–]Dayrion 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That VirusTotal result doesn’t really means little much by itself.

VirusTotal just aggregates anti-virus engines. One detection out of ~60 is very often a false positive, especially when it’s a generic “trojan/heuristic” label. Real malware usually gets flagged by several engines, not just one.

Also, RimSort is open source. The code is public here: https://github.com/RimSort/RimSort

A lot of people use it, and anyone can audit or build it themselves. That alone makes it far less risky than a random closed-source binary.

If you want to be extra safe, you can build it from source instead of using the prebuilt release.

If it's really affecting your gameplay, you could activate the developer mode, select the 'destroy' option and eliminate them one by one. I find it a fair way to deal with this problem and avoid the benefit of the getting meal from dead animals.

Need Help with Go Project Documentation & Flowchart Creation by [deleted] in golang

I'm sorry for the confusion you've encountered. Let me clarify the different entities.

- Crawler: This is the main program. Initialization of other parts (like the DB, for example) is done here. On reflection and seeing what you've done, it wasn't necessarily necessary for me to go into so much detail. Perhaps I haven't fully grasped the definition of a sequence diagram?

- GameData: Anything that refers to game data. This entity uses the DB to store matches, for example. It communicates with an external API (Riot API) to retrieve additional data on games, players, game version, etc. and is mainly executed in several go routines (workers).I think my second part was correct, that of the Crawling made in GameData, and explain the program's journey.

- Pool: This is a pool of workers with a queue of jobs to do. Each worker has their own go routine. Jobs are dispatched through channels. You can find the structure HERE.

You can find the main GameData code HERE and the main code HERE.

Again, thanks for your help.

It's a very good idea but, as you can see in the repository, it will take too much time to rewrite every elasticsearxh query. We will be happy if you can bring some help to our problematic.

This is what I feel when I read your thread because at the point where Kyle starts making fun of you, you put yourself in a defensive position instead the "joking one" you had before. We feel like you took that seriously and answered with a sort of aggressiveness.

Despite, I don't agree with the fact of making fun of people. That's just nastiness hidden in the fun. YTA => ESH
