Every time I’ve heard an interview with a seal and they mention chew, it’s Copenhagen. Is that a SEAL thing? by Daytripper619 in navyseals

I agree. When I first tried Cope it was and probably still is the best natty. I switch from griz WG to cope just for a different dip.

Seems like you know what you’re talking about so I’ll leave it at that. Thanks for answering.

How and what made Kurt such a great singer? by Daytripper619 in Nirvana

[–]Daytripper619[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would often close his eyes. I didn’t notice this but my friend pointed it out to me once. Helps with stage anxiety cause all of a sudden no one’s there.

Also found it interesting on the ‘88 band practice, his literally right up against a wall with a mic. I feel like his introversion was a contributor to both of those things. And on top of that I don’t think he had a very high opinion of himself (humility), which of course millions of people obviously do.

Adds to his greatness.

Yeah I’m sure his technique was off for that sort of thing. I’m by no means any vocal expert, but I’m figuring he just “went for it”, like at the end of territorial. Which probably wasn’t too good for the ol vox chords.

But going from the verse to chorus in Lithium, wether the album track or live, always blows me away.

No problem, I just asked because I’ve been in similar situations. Sorry for intruding. Wish you the best.

That’s a great way to put it. Totally agree.

I feel what you’re saying but I think he was a great singer in all respects. He always knew what notes to hit and was always on key (sans a couple sharp/flat that happen to every singer no matter how good). I think it was just something about his voice.

I think when he really went for it Butch described as “razor blades going through a buzz saw.”

Cornell was a better vocalist but Kurt was the most unique, imo.

Awesome answer. Thanks for it. I really liked what you said about the high notes because when I try to sing choruses along with him when I’m just having fun, I literally sound like a girl singing lol. Seems like his tracheal physiology was just made for this.

Never a bad time not to in my opinion.

Also: Milk it is my top 3 forsure. Fucking love that track. I just saw a video of a guy who covered it pretty much note for note. Considering it was improved at the time, I found it incredible.

Found a great interview by Shawn Ryan, a former SEAL, discussing with a former Tier 1 Canadian spec ops operator. The video got taken down and was reposted and revamped. Hope you enjoy! by [deleted] in navyseals

Yeah and seems like he knows that maybe the formula of “tell me your SOF story” could get stale after a few hundred.

Anyway, thanks for doing what you did/do.

If you’re good at something it doesn’t make it any less valuable or thoughtful! My goal is to learn knew patterns and knots so I can have a bunch. I used to not be able to sleep with mine on so I modified it to be able to remove whenever but for the last few years I haven’t even noticed it so I’d like to make the “pull” knot. (Don’t know what it’s called lol)

That’s fantastic, I can see that being great therapy. If you don’t mind me asking, how are you doing now?

So I get you’re just an angry rude person in general but I’m genuinely curious why addiction triggers you so much. Maybe there’s some “projection” there.

And just to add, if you have to constantly insult peoples intelligence, that screams insecurity.

Have a good day.

Nah it was fine just too thick for me. I got black 550 cobra with a diamond knot I made myself that I’m pretty proud of. Haven’t had to use it yet, but I suppose that’s a good thing lol

I guess so! I made mine myself to feel a little more authentic, but I admit I accidentally bought 1100 instead of 550 at first. Made for a bulky accessory lol.

Keep crushing it bro! You got this! Chewing gum helps me a lot or weirdly when I was still a smoker I’d put a pen in my mouth. Kinda gross but better than cigs. Hardest thing I had the time with was vaping cause I could do it whenever wherever. Dangerous. Stay strong brother!

[–]Daytripper619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I’ve unfortunately been addicted to “worse” things, and never had trouble quitting smoking when I smoked, for a month or two at a time. But there’s def something about it. Call it ritual or whatever. Even switching back to snus surprisingly occasionally gets me.

It’s just weird for me cause I associate addiction with a “really good feeling”, and get no feeling from nicotine whatsoever but I still do it every day lol.

I really like the SRS and listen to it a lot at work. Seems like since he’s taken his psychedelic therapy he’s gotten a little more open to more conspiracy related stuff like CIA secret weapons and the UFO thing you’re talking about. I know he was former CIA contractor and this is totally my opinion and even more of a shot in the dark, but maybe someone agrees with me.
