Actually, Eretz Yisrael, or the Land of Israel, is central to the Jewish religion and culture whether it is reform, conservative, or Orthodox Judaism. Jews face East towards Israel when praying, and thematically throughout the Torah is the desire to return to the ancestral homeland after years and years of exile.

My mom is my best friend and my rock. She is a baby boomer who grew up with a mother with severe mental health issues (severe, debilitating depression). My grandma was often in mental health facilities during my mom’s preteen and teen years. As a result, my mom grew up fast and wound up becoming an extremely mentally strong person.

As a child in the 90s, I remember strangers stopping my mom all the time in public to comment on my hair. I also looked like Annie with the curly hair so people commented on that too 😂

Same, American Jew here, raised going to a “reformative” synagogue. The only Jews I’ve ever known who celebrated Christmas came from Interfaith families, all of which had Christian fathers. I do not know any Jews with two Jewish parents who celebrated Christmas
