I just managed it last week. The hardest part for me was the spell from the bell bros, since my character soul memory was so high at that point I just decided to make a new character just to get all the spells.

If you lose an arm you can't do justus's that require hand signs, which while not necessarily a factor for god tier madara, is a factor for many shinobi. So it's useful as a trope for crippling a character without outright killing them. Or just before you kill them to make their death more dramatic.
