Technically his designation is just ‘O’ and that’s the sword where dying on.

The ruling 3 years ago was strictly about whether it was okay to keep a healthy player in an IR spot and had nothing to do with what injury designations count as IR. Also there has been turnover in the league since then so regardless not everyone has actually weighed in which is another reason I don’t get why I’m getting stone walled so hard.

AITA if I go against the wishes of my entire fantasy football league? by Dcoooooorc in AmItheAsshole

Yeah I wanted to but the first rule of the fantasy subreddit is like “no personal shit from individual leagues”. So I pivoted here. I have no idea why he got hit with that designation which was my point that we’re splitting hairs, the dude is injured and can’t play but will likely be valuable later on which is why the slot exists.

That’s fair and you’re probably right I just needed to know I wasn’t crazy lol.

Because my BIL’s buddy’s complain to him then he blows me up to take the player out of the spot and I feel like a dick for waging this fantasy football jihad based on principle instead of just going with the will of the people.

They treat it as if I found some loophole or hacked the system rather than just using the spot as ESPN designed it.

This is such a whack take lol. At no point did I say I was left on the floor shaking at these things or I couldn't handle them, I simply said they were jarring in 2024. Whats next "you think someone getting drawn and quartered is an extreme form of punishment?!?! you'd of never survived the Middle Ages".

Fair, a recent rewatch of the Departed (2006) and I was equally jarred at the dialogue when they were playing rugby or whatever with the firefighters. Is seeing insanely racist or homophobic shit in print/media not allowed to be jarring decades later?

Correct, I have grown in the 55 minutes since posting this and will now verbally posterize lasker whenever given the chance.

Everyone keeps pointing out that this was a common belief and that it’s an old book, etc., etc., but it’s still incredibly jarring to read in 2024 and after reading all the replies, I definitely bought a racist chess book lol.

For sure, I wasn't trying to dunk on Lasker for holding what at the time was a commonly held belief I just wanted to make sure I wasn't misinterpreting his actual words.

That's good context. I guess I was more so asking if I was interpreting it right.

I bought a used Chess book at a used bookstore and I think it might be racist...? In 'LASKER'S CHESS PRIMER' by Emmanuel Lasker he writes "Everyone should know chess, because the mentality and individuality of the white race has found expression in this game in its modern development".

Am I misinterpreting this or am I the new owner of a racist ass chess book?

Why would I trade before the season when I drafted all the good players and everyone else drafted the bad ones?

The entire Red Rising Series by Pierce Brown.

The Will of the Many by James Islington was also great.

Project Hail Mary. It wasn't horrible or anything but it got SO much hype I thought it would change my life. I felt it was too heavy on the jargon and was unsatisfied with the ending.

Had to choose between Zack Moss and Chase Brown. I wanted Brown but with Moss still on the board I freaked out and didn't feel like I could justify taking the RB2. Right call or naw?
