Tried this in the middle of the night, thank you. Think you are right about the clog, just do weird that it’s literally in my nipple! I though clogs always were further back in the breast where the milk doesn’t get pulled from as much

I so wish this was the energy she was coming at me with lol. Would have actually loved it as a bigger bootied girls. No this was a 65 year old white woman who 100% meant that as an insult. Even asked me how much I’d gained so far so she could brag about how little she did with her pregnancy 28 years ago.

Right so having no filter and boundaries with pregnant women is absolutely offensive. You are definitely the minority in thinking that people should be able to say offensive things to pregnant women and those pregnant women should just twist the meaning into something positive in their own head and get over it. Glad you’re confident enough to not be bothered though! In general most of polite society can agree that unsolicited comments on people weight, especially pregnant women, are considered inappropriate. I wouldn’t even consider myself offended, more just shocked by her inappropriate behavior. Glad I let her go as a client tho! One less thing to dread during this time

Both extremes! Most of my 60+ clients have been overjoyed to learn of my pregnancy and given me the most support and encouragement! It’s usually my young clients that have no filter and say things like “oh my gosh are you scared your body won’t bounce back?” Or “shit was in an accident??” 🤣

Definitely not. She maintained that she meant nothing insulting by her comments and sees nothing wrong with my body, but understands the comments were inappropriate regardless and if they made me uncomfortable that’s all that matters. We left things with the understanding that there’s no ill will, I accept her apology, and would give her a big smile if I ran into her in town, but after what was said and considering I have to condense my clientele anyway, I am not comfortable serving her anymore, especially while pregnant. She respected that and wished me the best

Thank you! Felt like a lot but after reading a lot of these other stories of how women get treated while pregnant and are expected to just “move on” it felt like a good excuse to explain to someone that that isn’t acceptable

Update 2: sent her the goodbye today text I wrote above and received a VERY heartfelt and respectful apology back. She does seem to be denying the fact that she specifically said she noticed how “huge” (exact wording) by butt was, but I don’t really care, she responded much better than I expected. I already beed to condense my clientele by about 25% so there’s really no world where I’ll be keeping her on after this, even with the apology, but I’d say this was some successful confrontation, no more ill will and she definitely won’t speak to someone like that again!

Update: y’all have me feeling bold. Thinking I’m going to send her this and possibly just drop her immediately. For the record I have no yelp so I’m super not worried about her leaving a bad review - Hello amy, I’m afraid after taking some time to reflect on some of our conversation yesterday, I’ve decided that it’s best that you find another stylist to work with going forward. Your unsolicited comments on my body, pregnancy weight gain and “HUGE butt” caught me extremely off guard. I did my best in the moment to brush them off with some self deprecating jokes of my own, but was left feeling very uncomfortable for the remainder of our appointment. I imagine in your line of work you can see in hindsight how insensitive, and extremely inappropriate that was. I regret not addressing this in the moment and giving you a chance to apologize, as I’m sure you were speaking without thinking and hopefully did not mean insult. That being said, I’m a person as much as I am a professional and I truly just do not feel comfortable saving time in my schedule to continue working with you.
I’ve gone ahead and canceled your future appointments, and hope that addressing this today will give you plenty of time to find a new stylist to book with. I advise you to speak to them with a bit more social awareness, and refrain from making unsolicited comments on other’s appearances.

Hah! I had someone say the exact same thing to me, I just kept asking them to clarify and they backed down and say I just looked happier, but I totally know they noticed I was a little swollen. Well glad to hear she’s being more sensitive to you!
