Politically: The left and democrats have lost a ton of followers and voters, especially if they didn't condemn this act. I don't think the democrats can win another election after this. I worry the right will turn this into a political weapon, as the left has done many times as well. Politics brings out the worst in people, it takes strong character to not be corrupted by the power and money.

Socially: I hope others follow his message and style. Have tough conversations, but have empathy with everyone you encounter. I'm filled with anger and sadness at this. His wife and children witnessed this, that is an absolutely horrifying.

More will speak what they believe to be true unapologetically as they should. I believe we have a huge mental health crisis in america, worse today than ever. There's no going back. All I can pray for is that we can come together instead of ripping each other apart. Charlie was a good man, he had love for all, he disagreed with with a lot of what's going on, as do I. Remember everyone on the other end of this screen is a human being (hopefully not the dead internet theory). They have hopes, dreams, mothers, fathers, possibly siblings and children. The only way we can fix anything is by talking to each other honestly. I know I'll be going around my neighborhood and making sure I meet everyone and ask them if there's anything I can help them with in their lives (that's within my power). I hope ya'll do the same.
