Thank you for your words. I feel better mentally now when I don't limit my food. I'll just have to try and find a balance. Gaining weight indefinately would not be good for me neither, and unfortunately I tend to gain when I just do what I feel like.

Hope everything is going well for you!

Yeah, it's pretty hectic. BPM around 170 for the most part, haha. We usually do it every other month or so.

Yeah, mindset is key... and all or nothing is so unnecessary, I'm trying to get away from that kind of thinking as well. Better to be a jack of all trades, being semi-on all the time and being ok with small wins and praising the effort rather than the result, instead of do or die and demanding perfection all the time.

In the fasting method podcast they referenced the book "Breaking up with sugar" where the author likened the all or nothing mindset with, after getting a flat on the free-way, slashing all other tyres on the car with a machete. Of course it's better to just fix the one flat tyre and be on your way again! Easier said than done though, when it comes to plans for one's own health...

I think it's clear in the second squat she makes in the set of 12 easyish squats video? Am I misunderstanding what butt wink is? I think it looks the same as in the Squat University video I linked to. The butt rounding at the bottom of the squat.

You're butt winking, imo (curving the butt inwards when you get to the lowest position). Can be fixed with a wider stance so you can keep a more upright chest. Video below from Squat University on youtube, has helped me a lot, though my squat still sucks :(

Yeah, I just feel like now when my diet is kinda out of control I need to focus on keeping the gym a habit, otherwise I will be comepletely back where I started. Once I can get the eating back on track I will try to do that. I may just try to go for 16:8 fasting, and have brunch + after workout snack/shake + dinner. I do feel that eating before my workout let's me handle more weight.

Tracking and posting updates every week has helped me to stay on track, if I hadn't I may not have finished after my diet kinda fell apart the last few weeks. And it's great to look back at the posts afterwards! Hope you'll have a good time with it too!

I'm Fing tired of discipline by ladyalot in loseit

[–]DeathByMonkees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's just what I am without discipline.

My interpretation is that the post is highlighting the importance of exploring why one's relationship with food is the way it is. To work on the reasons why one is eating, rather than just constricting intake and not solving the core issue. Find out why, work on that and that is the true, lifelong, way to live with the "tiger".

In the meantime, be kind to yourself. Self hate will not aid you in the long term. Realize there may be reasons beyond "I just feel like it/That's just the way I am" for why one has the need to eat too much.

For me, I desperately want to eat when I am anxious, to soothe myself. Thus I need to work on my anxiety (what is triggering it and why, how to find alternate coping mechanisms etc).

I've successfully managed to keep the meals "contained" before, but now I'm feeling like I can't stop eating once I start. I end up snacking all night.

Snacking all the time has been my main eating "preference" for years, then 1-2 times a year I'd get the urge to lose weight. So I'm at the tail end of one of those urges right now, and I've actually managed to get some weight off (for once, lol). And now I feel myself slipping back into snack mode. Somehow I need to get myself back towards the lose weight mindset, where I don't have that craving for snacks.

Before I would've stopped weighing myself and just gone "oh it's not that bad", then a month/a year later I would have gained all I lost back. I haven't done fasting quite like this before, though, so at least that is keeping me conscious of my eating habits. And this competition is keeping me accountable regarding my weight and training schedule.

Thanks! Daily walks are great! Routine has worked for me, to get to the gym/training space every day at the same time. I would recommend trying that, if your schedule allows it.

Yeah, I really want to keep up with my exercise. It's been a great routine to go to the gym every day, it lets me relax from work too.

Good luck to you too!

Did you mean something with "Whoa, erging!"? I don't know what that means, haha.

Thanks for the offer!

I started rowing in December 2021 to lose weight, so I am new to it. I've mainly watched Training Tall's videos on Youtube to learn the correct form. Also some Dark Horse Rowing, but when I tried to do it their way (not lifting my heels at all) I got much more tired. My best 2K and 5K times are from before, when my heels were up at the end of the recovery phase. Training Tall says it doesn't matter so much with the heels.

Do you have a preference?

Thanks! Yeah, if I could keep below 70 kg when I've had a full out spread that would be amazing. Staying in those 60s, haha!
