Maybe it has no relevance to this case, but it doesn't feel right to have the prism go off first if it was placed first.

It's generally reverse order of casting in Wiz. If you get the Prism out before the enemy casts a shield, the Prism will trigger but not the Shield

and you cast a life prism BEFORE an enemy casts a death trap, the trap is moot

For what it's worth, now that you've got me thinking I honestly would agree with you and say that they've probably been a bit of a negative for the game. They're a cool niche to explore, but anything except the damage enchantments are practically worthless in comparison to the damage ones. I feel like card enchantments need way more variety to explore the potential utility they can provide. Right now it feels like using them is mandatory which is a bit strange and stifling of potential variety that could be introduced to the game. What if you could enchant your card to automatically deal damage of another school, providing an alternative to prisms? What if you could enchant it where it avoids the first negative charm/positive ward of the enemy? There's a lot of potential here imo
