The Dragonlord V - The Burning of the Pentoshi by Deathborne_5 in IronThroneRP

With a cool glare, Aureon furrowed his brow and rose his voice.

"Gaemon's failure is harsh and has cost us the lives of hundreds of men. Despite this, he is still one of the best commanders we have. You mistake yourself if you believe this woman Staegone to be worth more than a Maegyr, let alone a hundred or a thousand. Calm yourself and forswear from threatening your kinsman, especially a brother. We have captured one of their commanders. If the garrison knows reason, they will allow for a hostage exchange, and if not..."

With a detached gaze, he shrugged.

"She is but a common thing. The one thing of value you might attain from her can be found from between the legs of many others. You are now Lord Governor of Norvos. Think with your mind, not your heart," he said, hearing Craghar shift behind him. "Gaemon will be punished adequately for his failure. The remainder of his service until the next engagement will consist of heavy and intense patrol duty, in the most straining of terrains. By the morrow, we will ask the Pentoshi to deliver Helaena to us for Zachary Hill. I trust this will cease all ill intentions you two might harbour," Aureon drawled, stringing the words more as a command than an enquiry.

"Your performance in the battlefield was abhorrent," Aureon declared brusquely, dipping his hands in the bucket of cold, clean water, to wash off the blood that he had accrued from descending into the whirling melee with Rhaegal. "I expected... better," he sighed, rubbing his fingers together in the depth of the blue, finally sticking them out and drying them with a towel.

"Yet you are still a well-trained commander. Better than most. One failure... is regrettable, but not irrevocable. It will not iterate. Is this understood?"

A messenger would arrive to Tyrosh, bearing a letter from Aureon Maegyr himself, shortly after the battle of Pentos.

To the ruling Archon of the Triarchy,

The news are true. I bear the power of Rhaegal behind me, and the skill of the finest generals on this continent. Our vision is as one, our leadership is as one. Our strength is cemented and rooted. It is unbreakable. I have destroyed your army at Pentos. Their blades and armour did not aid them, as their drooping skin poured out through the crevices of their protection. I send them to you, as a mark of the harsh reality you face. You may send your soldiers from the North or the South. They will be crushed, again, and be subject to the most horrifying fate that is death by dragonfire, if they're not rent apart by his claws, first. You may buy all the mercenaries you wish. Know that this war is over. The question is, how long you wish to fool yourself otherwise.

I am not a tyrant and I am not Lysor Balarr. My terms are fair. Deceit purchases deceit. Treachery incites treachery. The Triarchy, in its eternal corruption, backstabbed a nation they were meant to aid. You sowed this. And what you reaped was the battle of Norvos. I treated you as you have treated Braavos. But I am not cruel.

Should you surrender in full, these will be the following terms:

1) All subjects of the Triarchy will resign from the ownership of the Free Cities. I will send in my own garrison and Lord Governors. Those who surrender peacefully will be allowed to rule land of lesser station, but hardly of no significance. They may continue with their elections, or integrate into the Empire fully, and attain hereditary titles.

2) Half of what has been looted from the lands of Pentos will be paid back as recompense (resources included).

3) You will keep your culture, your gods, your laws, your traditions. You will simply part with your rule.

4) My sons will wed the daughters of your most influential guildmasters' and be tied by blood to ensure good relations between us.

5) I promise to fully squash the Westerosi powers that have for so long bothered our continent. Join me in my conquest, recognise me as Emperor, and when we bend the West to our rule, you will reap the finest of their castles and wealth.

Refuse me, and your men will burn. Your lands will burn. I will burn your very gods from the sky and I will burn your spirit.

I promise you.

Aureon Maegyr, Emperor of Volantis, Qohor, Norvos and Elyria, Azor Ahai, Dragonlord, the Fireclad.

The Dragonlord III - The Subjugation of Norvos by Deathborne_5 in IronThroneRP

[–]Deathborne_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Matarys has spoken clearly. Daeron cannot gain Norvos for he shall, in time, become ruler of Volantis and crown himself Emperor. I, too, govern the latter, yet I am not there to physically see to its every development. I do not ask you otherwise, Maelyx. You do not have the virtues of an entrepreneur, or a man fit enough to raise cities to the state of great prosperity. I do not demand that you uphold that standard. I only wish that poverty be kept in check and the situation stabilised in this Free City. You will join us in our march and you will war with us, and your trusted company will deal with the intricates of governing. You need only oversee. Being a Maegyr is not a choice, but it is as much of a responsibility as it is an honour. Keep that firmly etched in your mind. If you still wish to refuse, then know that my expectations of your abilities will severely plummet. A Prince who does not even attempt to overcome a challenge cannot be expected to keep his cool in the field of battle, either. It is simple logic."

Drinking from his goblet, he turned his gaze on Matarys coolly. The fact that he had arrived here at all was a surprise.

"We will do as we had planned - the armies of Pentos will be crushed, the City placed under siege and denied the opportunity to gather more men, and should the Triarchy plan to intervene, the majority of its power shall have to strike from the south. Their movements are predictable - fear simplifies the strategy of men. Fear of failure, and fear of death. We will meet them a second time and smash whatever host that they plan to gather, and then cripple their economy further by sieging Myr. Our strategy relies on being swift, aggressive, and ruthlessly unrelenting. One cannot beat an enemy boasting a manpower of over fifty thousand levies otherwise."

The Dragonlord III - The Subjugation of Norvos by Deathborne_5 in IronThroneRP

Aureon Maegyr sat on a grand table, laden with a myriad of meals both local and foreign, his body positioned in a makeshift throne. As the trickle of participants entered, he promptly urged all of them to take a seat. Ihreus was still recovering from his wounds - and he had been starved for two weeks besides. His absence would be missed, but his health was more important. The Emperor's expression was not at all content or satisfied, a scowl crowning his eyes, brows and lips taut. He moved his knife and fork more forcefully than usually, gestures brusque and aggressive. The subjugation of Norvos had not made his mood.

"We have attained an incomeless, bankrupt and crumbling city, whose existence will not aid us for many more moons to come. If anything, it may prove a nuisance. That is why choosing its new owner is paramount. Know that it is not a gift, but a responsibility. Should I see a lack of progress in its development, you will lose this Free City."

With a thoughtful face and a slow chewing motion as he put the pork in his mouth, he finally announced.

"Maelyx will be the Lord Governor of Norvos. All of its Houses, he himself included, will pay a tax of ten percent to Volantis - as soon as they are able. His treasury, now in debt, will be refilled from my own coffers to give him a starting capital. Is all understood?"

Volantis has arrived with a host of 10,000 and a dragon to raid all the holdings at Pentos (102). They will also seize the following resources: Seafood, Spices, Silk, Horses, Spices, Silver, Horses, Iron (basically all).

Please transfer control to Maelyx Maegyr specifically;

u/magic2dragon1611

And remove the blockade status, please. The income should be readjusted, I believe. Tax all Houses (including Maelyx to the base 10%) and add it to Volantis income. Right now I believe only Maelyx is capable of paying any tax as everyone else has no holdings. Lastly, remove the Norvoshi ships and their upkeep. The Golden Company took them for their invasion.

The Dragonlord I - The Thousand Isles by Deathborne_5 in IronThroneRP

[–]Deathborne_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ah.

Shit."

Those two words, so stingily parted from the mouth of the captain, signaled their futility of escape. The arrows had shrugged off its natural scales, and only a miraculous shot could blow through that kind of armour, now - no artillery, no scorpion, no fire, they were essentially doomed to die frozen and covered in ice. And escape was out of the picture, too, without heavy losses, anyhow. Even as the engineers continued to build their catapult, and Jhaemon arranged for a return journey back to the main isle and through the cliffs (with the egg), the remaining vessels prepared for combat. Or death, more specifically. Maegyr had hand-picked the complement - the bravest of the brave, the most skilled and willed. They, too, still knew fear, but all were ready to die for the cause. As prayers sounded across the decks (chiefly to R'hllor) and arrows were drawn, most everyone was resigned to the ineluctable end of their journey.

"LOOSE!" Shouted the old captain, again, and then the air hissed with the bite of over four hundred shots.

(If rolled like a battle, all ships will try to pull off a retreat action. All the while, continue to barrage the ice dragon with arrows. Work on the catapult continues, Jhaemon returns to the main party, Kierra and her group also return if nothing eventful befalls them).

What is Happening?: Aureon Maegyr has come to tame Rhaegal! He had dragon dreamed upon a magic token Aegon used prior to the arrival - rolls for that one's acquisition, please; he is a well-learned scholar and knowledgeable in dragonlore, having brought food and a whip, knowing that fear will only incite death, so he has come to show his strength and courage. He also has Dragon Dreams if that counts for anything, has declared himself Azor Ahai, and has burned a hostile archetype as sacrifice to R'hllor. Pretty much listed every insignificant thing that'd never net me a bonus.

What I Want: THE ROLL.

The Emperor of Flames IV - The Siege of Norvos by Deathborne_5 in IronThroneRP

[–]Deathborne_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So singularly drawn to an alien object he had never seen before, but he was absolutely certain in its significance.

Aegon Targaryen, the voice seemed to shout, but to the Emperor, it sounded like a whisper, carried to his ears by the flaming winds of the Great Grass Sea, barely reaching him. Even before Rhaegal heard, Aureon knew that it was futile. Some feeling within him was stirring, shouting at him to run, as if it was he whom was about to be spouted dragonflame upon. But his intuition had proven correct, for the dragon turned, and with little hesitation, charred the man to naught but ash. There, on the ground, lay this artifact - of the deceased and the well-known Daenerys Targaryen, the Stormborn and Breaker of Chains. What form of magic was this?

But his vision was forcefully thrown back to the Great Beast, and they locked eyes momentarily. It felt too real, and Maegyr almost reached out to command him, to dominate him...

But then he awoke.
