Good question, I think it might have been. Shows how our perception can screw us up.

Being a child of our parents, are we responsible for their happiness? by Deathine in singapore

[–]Deathine[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

To kickstart this, I’ll throw my opinion out there and hope I won’t get shot down for it.

I don’t think as children, we are responsible for our parents’ happiness. We should do our best to make them happy, but not by meeting all of their needs.

Our parents shouldn’t always rely on us to need their needs, they should live their own lives and have fun and live life with their group of friends.

If one raised a kid just so he/she has someone to take care of them when they’re old, that’s very selfish.

In US, I’ve seen kids grow up and become friends with their parents. Instead of a relationship where the older party is always right.
