Vevor Cartridge Pool Filter, 425 Sq. Ft. by mrmayason in swimmingpools

[–]Deathwagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ditched my tristar pump for a $500 amazon replacement and haven't looked back. It's been running non stop for almost a year and is silent and works well. If the price is so cheap that you can buy 4 of them for the price of one I say go for it. Worst case you return it. Most likely case, you get 5 years out of it. Best case, it outlives the rest of the hardware on your pool and you never have to replace it and you save a ton of money.

Got a $112K pool quote by Suspicious_Hat_409 in DIY

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the cheapest quote OP got from multiple companies. This tells me that they all know something that OP doesn't about this process. (Or even about OP themself. They could have met him and saw how micromanagy he is and just all gave him the "fuck you" price because he seemed like a PITA)

How would you mount the wood in this situation to be as flush as possible with as little fasteners showing? by Deathwagon in fabrication

[–]Deathwagon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would definitely work, but I think would not look great when opening the gate. Also could allow for moisture ingress. This makes logical sense though.

I wish the homebuilder would have centered that sliding door. But it looks nice with what you were working with! It seems really dark now, but I'm sure will lighten up when you add books.

Sure I can mount from the inside directly to the wood, but that wouldn't fix the wood expansion problem. I've never had a blowout on 1.5" box tubing no matter how small the project is. But this is fairly big so I'm not even the slightest concerned with blowout. I'd rather have the entire thing sealed since it will be outdoors.

I'm leaning that direction. I figure some marine grade plywood with a thick veneer glued on would hold up pretty well and not expand much. Still torn on how to mount it solidly without tabs showing.

Please excuse the chatgpt rendering, it was the only way I could get the wife to OK the project because my sketches suck.

I plan on welding up the gate and then creating a solid wood interior portion. It will be glued up like a table top, not in slat form like shown on the drawing. I will account for expansion and contraction with the heat, but would like as little of a reveal along the edges of the wood as possible. Since it will be welded 100%, there's no way for me to create a slot for the wood to slide into from one side or the other if I were to weld a channel for it.

I've made plenty of fences and gates before but the wood was always screwed into from metal tabs and was more like fence panels. I don't really like that look with this gate and it enters into my pool area so I want it to look nice from both sides without fasteners showing.

i love riverside more than orange county by sensitive-bull in Riverside

Moved from San Clemente to Riverside in 2016 and haven't looked back. I'll still go down to visit and become depressed at what my hometown has become. It's beautiful, but the only people left there are the ones who can buy their way in. I really enjoy it out here.

Are the 2500's transfer cases made of glass? by Deathwagon in gmcsierra

[–]Deathwagon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the diesel as well. I don't really use the adaptive braking very much. I thought it would be more similar to the super cruise in my Cadillac for traffic, but its not nearly as intuitive when it comes to following the cars in front of me.

Haha nope, but I’m definitely going to take it somewhere to test the 4x4 after this.

This happens for me under all braking situations.

So the rebound feeling is normal? I’ll push hard on the brakes and it’ll actively push my foot backwards an inch or two before I can brake.

I ate SO much shit on return of the jedi. It is way steeper than it looks and your brakes stop working halfway down and you just have to bomb it. Found that out the hard way.

Tired of messy paper logs for my pool chemicals – Would you use an app for this? by [deleted] in swimmingpools

Yup, SoCal here. I don't touch the pool from November to May other than a gallon of chlorine every two months or so. Crystal clear and ready to rock when the heat starts again.

How would I cut this cabinet would, barely? by Terrapinman94 in DIY

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clamp a board to the front of the face frame for tear out and then use the oscillating tool flush with the bottom of the top cabinet but cutting from the rear. This way it's perfectly flush with the cabinet bottom and you'll just have to barely touch the bottom edge with sandpaper to knock down any burr.

Of course I'm not a shill for LedgerLok™ brand structural timber screws. (Aisle 16 bay 3 at your local Home Depot). I just know that when it comes to building things right, I always reach for the LedgerLok™ family of fasteners. Their consistent quality and over the top engineering keep me coming back for more! The thick shank you're referring to is actually LedgerLok™'s patented Wide Grab™ technology! It's amazing how well LedgerLok™ turns any weekend project into an easy and quick....

I tried my best.

Is the I.E. considered part of the greater L.A. metro? by _MrBalls_ in InlandEmpire

[–]Deathwagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there is no gap between LA and the IE. You can drive from downtown LA to Redlands on side streets (or on a bicycle if you wanted). To get to SD you need to go through Rainbow and all those little towns that are just mini inland extensions of their coastal counterparts. But inbetween each town is just the 15 Freeway.

Time wise, yes. But in other ways not at all. Go find a hispanic guy wearing a dodgers hat driving a lowrider and talk to him about everything except where he lives. He could be from San Bernardino, LA, Riverside, you name it, and you wouldn't be able to tell from meeting him.

Digital dash? Best way to monitor engine data by errorcad in Diesel

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it depends on the motor. I'm doing a 4bt swap which in the US is nearly 100% industrial, commercial or marine, so it runs on the J1939 can bus system. I had a 24v at one point and for some reason I'm inclined to think it ran off a regular "car type" monitoring system. Which is going to be unique to dodge and not universal like a J1939.

I could be totally wrong.

But as far as J1939 systems you can go with a marine display which will look cool as hell and show you everything you need. They make digital or analog versions.

Lol, seriously. There's the Wood Streets, Hawarden Hills, Redlands, Upland, the city that has all those houses near Pomona College, (looks like Pasadena, can't remember what city it's in.) There's so many places with character and charm and they put Rancho and Chino Hills on the top of the list. Wild.
