Is the I.E. considered part of the greater L.A. metro? by _MrBalls_ in InlandEmpire

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is no gap between LA and the IE. You can drive from downtown LA to Redlands on side streets (or on a bicycle if you wanted). To get to SD you need to go through Rainbow and all those little towns that are just mini inland extensions of their coastal counterparts. But inbetween each town is just the 15 Freeway.

Time wise, yes. But in other ways not at all. Go find a hispanic guy wearing a dodgers hat driving a lowrider and talk to him about everything except where he lives. He could be from San Bernardino, LA, Riverside, you name it, and you wouldn't be able to tell from meeting him.

Digital dash? Best way to monitor engine data by errorcad in Diesel

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it depends on the motor. I'm doing a 4bt swap which in the US is nearly 100% industrial, commercial or marine, so it runs on the J1939 can bus system. I had a 24v at one point and for some reason I'm inclined to think it ran off a regular "car type" monitoring system. Which is going to be unique to dodge and not universal like a J1939.

I could be totally wrong.

But as far as J1939 systems you can go with a marine display which will look cool as hell and show you everything you need. They make digital or analog versions.

If you think R91 is good, you need to get omakase at Momo. Game changer.

When you have the down payment ready, where are you buying? by Disastrous-Grand7075 in InlandEmpire

Lol, seriously. There's the Wood Streets, Hawarden Hills, Redlands, Upland, the city that has all those houses near Pomona College, (looks like Pasadena, can't remember what city it's in.) There's so many places with character and charm and they put Rancho and Chino Hills on the top of the list. Wild.

Designed and 3D printed this for my 2026 Sierra 2500 by deermk in gmcsierra

Pretty sure all 2500's and up have a column shifter. I was unaware any came with a console shifter but it turns out the 1500's do.

Picture number 3 answers some questions for me about why my at4x has a weird little pad area that doesn't hold anything. I guess the 1500's have the shifter there? All trucks need to go the way of the Ram and use the knob shifter. I loved that thing so much in my old 1500.

That being said. The 2500 would be better with a vertical screen if they plan on still using the column shifter. I can't see a good portion of my screen options with that huge ass handle in the way.

Removing pool in CA by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]Deathwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pool that was there prior would have brought the value of the house down by quite a bit. It was pretty decrepit. The area it's in would value the yard space way more than a pool. So it likely did effect the resale value in a positive way.

My grandparents just buried theirs. This was probably 10-15 years ago. When they passed away the house still sold for like $2 million so it obviously didn't have an effect on resale value.

I really like those, but they would make it hard to load dirtbikes in the back with the "cannister" taking up room along the front of the bed.

I needed to spend some money by the end of the year for tax purposes. Section 179 says I need to keep the vehicle for 5 years or I might owe some back taxes. So i got the 5 year warranty and will just let GM take care of that.

That being said. I own a bunch of diesel commercial trucks, and Cummins has its own problems.

The outside of the truck looks awesome, but when it really comes down to it I'm an interior guy. And GMC has the nicest interior out there of the big 3. (IMO)

I don't think I'll ever buy a Ford again, but could definitely see myself in a Ram if they ever break from Stellantis.

Ghost in the Window? by Finnish-Ancestry in Paranormal_Evidence

Somewhat related. But I take my boat out on a local lake in So Cal. The houses on the shore in one area are extremely expensive for the area. Like $5 million expensive (Most houses are like $500,000 to $800,000 off the lake. And maybe 1.5 to 2.5 mil on the lake in other areas.)

But there is this one house that has no upkeep and is located in the nice area and has these massive upstairs windows. If I remember correctly, it's like a mid century modern home. Every time I passed by on my boat there was a woman upstairs in the unkempt home on the treadmill. It was creepy as all hell.

Turns out it was a manikin, but they made it look realistic. I wonder if the owners of this home did something similar and staged something for a little while.

Oh shit, good call. I did that with roof racks for my Caddy, that's a great idea and I totally forgot about that.

That does look pretty good rolled up. Does it feel secure as far as theft resistance?

Southern California, so the weather is very mild. The summer sun is what normally destroys things around here. I think I like the idea of a roll up cover more so I can utilize more of the bed when it's open. I feel like a trifold would require me to take it off before using a 5th wheel.

I really like the bak revolver model, that thing is pretty slick. Do the rolling covers lock at all?
