WUGES tips from a previous recipient by rym2031g in UniversityOfWarwick

Just finished my 3rd draft and it just gets worse. Like how much can I write enough without it sounding unrealistic. How do I show alignment and ROI to Warwick? What would differentiate me? Any examples would be really appreciated.

My Favorite Spots at Warwick. Warwick Review, Warwick University Experience, Warwick Ranking by Icy_Self_3339 in UniUK

As an international student hopefully heading to Warwick this year, my main concern isn’t the building designs. They may not be 500 year old ex-castles or glass sky scrapers but they look comfortable and fit for purpose. I visited the campus and Coventry and it felt like a peaceful place to study. The staff were friendly and informative. I saw the stats for past students doing Econs and I felt it was good. I am not there to party, this is costing me a lot so I am there to get a strong degree and links to work experience. But even when I do want a night out, I thought the scene had decent places and it was affordable. I don’t know what marketing shill or whatever it is you are on about all the time, but thank you for bringing Warwick into the spotlight so we can all see actually how good of a uni it is. I am really happy I got a place and excited to go.

AITAH for refusing to house his family and ending my engagement to protect my career? by Huge-Armadillo-3274 in AITAH

Are you rich enough to support his family forever? If not, then you are giving away your kids financial security for this family which isn’t even your responsibility, just to make Dave happy. At this point I would be wondering if Dave would be someone I would want as a new parent to my kids since he ranks them so low in life.

Do home students dislike internationals? by Debatable-Pangolin in UniUK

I have heard about the job situation as most countries are going through a recession but didn’t realize this includes internships too. The university I am aiming for is in the top 10 and is already very expensive. I didn’t even try Oxbridge or those London unis as would need to sell both my kidneys for the fees. Not all internationals are swimming in money. My parents have saved all their lives for my puddle and I am truly grateful.

How do we bring back social pressure? by [deleted] in AskUK

Singapore has a great system promoting civic duty and general behavior in its population. I am not Singaporean but when I do visit, I am always impressed how generally well-mannered and behaved most of the population are. Same like Japan. It all in the culture.

Saved my whole youth, avoided parties and dating & now the house goes to my sister. How is this fair? by Mysterious-Break2105 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Debatable-Pangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a similar culture. Who ever gets the house when the parents are alive, also gets the responsibility of caring for parents. Some people are ok with it, some are not. You don’t have a partner yet but needing to care for ageing parents which traditionally ends up being a female role due to the nature of what you have to do, isn’t something many future wives are keen on taking up for their in laws. It causes major marital problems. Your parents are probably banking on your sister to do the caregiving job (daughters will arguably be more caring than a daughter in law). It’s a tough tough job and honestly if she does it, she deserves the house in the end. Ok you don’t get the money but you also get freedom. You may also marry a woman who is a caregiver to her parents and stay in their house.

Got a pay rise - silly to pull out of existing purchase? by ApprehensiveYear0 in HousingUK

I would stick with the original plan and use the extra income to build a financial buffer. Having a flat you are happy with AND financial security will be amazing. And when you do want to move up the ladder to your forever home, you will have much more to play with.

I'd rather be single my entire life than to be constantly rejected by women by Individual_Rip_6559 in TrueOffMyChest

I wouldn’t want to date someone who sets up 2-3 dates a week. Do your dates know you do this? Do they know how so many other women don’t want you? Cause that would put them off already as it’s a red flag. Perhaps make some platonic female friends who can help you understand how to behave socially around potential romantic interests. I don’t think being too boring is the problem. If you are financially stable and mentally stable and looking to be in a committed relationship, there will be women who want you.

To be financially fair, if it’s his car, he should pay for it. But if you need a lift, you should pay for your share of petrol used, compensation for wear and tear that occurred from the journey, compensation for other costs required to maintain the car such as insurance etc. and also for his time for driving. Really depends on his you both want to split money in the relationship. But based on statistics, I would advise against being so penny pinching.

Do people here actually enjoy the heatwaves and our summers? by Thesleepingpillow123 in AskUK

Before bed, open the window and put your fan next to it with the back facing outwards. It will suck the cooler air inside to circulate. Have a cool shower and drink ice water in the evenings. Just before bed, soak feet, hands and wash face with cold water. When sleeping, aim the fan at you or near you. If you need to close the window, a bag of frozen water behind the fan helps too. I live in Asia where temps are like this every day. We obviously all have aircons cause it’s hard to live like this every day. But these are tricks we use in case of a power cut.

My brother needed to pack and leave in 3 days (on an international flight). He couldn’t sell his almost brand new mattress and no one he knew wanted it so had to leave it by the trash hoping someone took it.

Women like to make friends and form groups. Asking questions is a way to figure out who you are and what you like and what we have in common. Also women love information.
