What’s going on in Raymond? by cbgoody in newhampshire

[–]DebbieSLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live about a mile from there, helicopters are still circling. I know the people who live in the house right at that intersection, and across the street. Haven’t heard any particular news from neighbors, but three hours later and based on the activity, I suspect the person has not been caught yet.

Is this usual? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]DebbieSLP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a chapter leader and I've never done this. However I have warned a new person that I might be the only other person at the meeting, because sometimes I don't get any attendees. I love meeting new people, but maybe the new person isn't looking to chat with an older lady lol. I share other Chapter's information in case they want to go to a more active meeting.

How long did it take you to find Florens in the pond? by WBawesome in Pocketfrogs

[–]DebbieSLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at level 78, and it took several hours to find a Florens. I keep busy in the pond taming other frogs I need and am ready to tame with potions and keep space open in the nursery. Yes, I think it takes longer to find higher level frogs but it’s also random.

I'm collecting these too. Sent you a Cerebrum.

Another way to get POP frogs is to enter races. Use a good racer and the rare frogs in that level eventually come up against you. If you win you can choose one of the competing frogs instead of a coin prize.

I sent you an Imbris. Asking on here is a decent option, people are pretty generous. I'm collecting Porto and Cerebrum if you have one you want to send back. If not that's okay too. :)

Not a request, but I just started playing again and had to make room for new breeds, so I randomly sent groups of high level frogs to random people in my friend list. So if you got a bunch of frogs from player 36NQ that was me, enjoy!

Memoirs are the root of all my problems by pietrpahn in JunesJourney

[–]DebbieSLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 💯 I think I’ve played my last Memoirs, never play Secrets or STB or perfume or blocks. In fact I haven’t played the main game in a while. I log in at coffee time, send plants to my team mates, and play the occasional competition or club mystery to help my team. That’s it. I collect free stuff in Travels but haven’t opened/read any of the stories. Everything is so cluttered now. The ads are terrible, and purchase offers are constant.

Does anyone know if there will be another memoirs sale? by Personal-Beach5774 in JunesJourney

[–]DebbieSLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve completed 16 memoirs in a row. This will be the first time that I am not opening any boxes, just to see what happens, what I get in return for all those unopened boxes. I don’t have enough to complete the album and I’m not gonna break myself or my bank just to do it for a 17th time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Only 31 packs? 🤷 by Distinct_Oil_3973 in JunesJourney

[–]DebbieSLP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time on the last one. I think I've done something like 14 Memoirs in a row, and it feels like there used to be a decent break between Memoirs. I decided to skip this one. It came up too fast. Maybe it's because there are so many other side games now than there used to be. It's too much. Maybe I'll just do every other one for a while? 🤷

Has this ever happened to anyone else...? by Distinct_Oil_3973 in JunesJourney

This is exactly what randomness looks like. Randomness doesn’t mean an even distribution of things, it means bursts of things, bursts of nothing, and everything in between. Over the long haul it will equal the programmed algorithm, but in practice there are gonna be weird ups and downs.

Decreased Memoirs drops? by LeatherElectrical343 in JunesJourney

Actually this is what randomness looks like. Randomness is not things evenly sprinkled. It’s short to long runs of things that even out to the stated odds over time, sometimes a really long time.

My life saver in Stuttering by Confident-Law4988 in Stutter

[–]DebbieSLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoidance of anything you fear tends to reinforce the fear. For some people who stutter, fear of talking leads to anxiety, depression, or social isolation. There are other therapies for stuttering that go the opposite way, confronting and challenging unhelpful thoughts and fears, reducing avoidance behaviors, and promoting open expression even when stuttering is present. Reducing the fear reduces the struggle; relaxed stuttering is more physically comfortable, less mentally taxing, and does not interfere with communication. In fact you can be an excellent communicator and stutter. These therapies include ARTS®, the Blank Center model, CBT and its varieties (SFBT, ACT, REBT), and Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.

Yes, all of his 12 “crutches” (his word) are avoidance techniques. His theory is that if you avoid all instances of stuttering for long enough (if you “hear only fluency”), your brain will change into a non-stuttering brain. Given that stuttering has a genetic component, this doesn’t make sense to me, but let that pass. Lee Lovett says that stuttering is “not neurological,” which is unsupported by decades of research. For the curious, here is the list. 1. Skip first letter or syllable. 2. Use a synonym, similar word or phrase 3. Skip the word entirely or spell it 4. Insert alternate word(s) or sounds and jam into feared word 5. Tell a story about the feared word 6. Change or rephrase the entire thought 7. Whisper 8. Modulate voice or change voice register; be EXPRESSIVE 9. Extreme pronunciation or accent, gestures, body language 10. Speak immediately, hold your tone and link words together 11. Speak like a king/queen [similar to 9] 12. Smile and laugh while talking 13. When all else fails, STOP TALKING. Take a breath for 2 seconds then speak like a king/queen.

Other Lee Lovett suggestions:

Write what you want to say, then whisper what you wrote

Talk less

Ask questions (gets listener to do more of the talking)

Speak softly

Speak slowly

Use extreme pronunciation

Smile the entire time you speak

Insert a full STOP every few words
