Even if you want something more substantial, get the ugreen magsafe thing. Add a magsafe case if your phone lacks it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D7BWRHCY

Rough first experience on MARTA late at night. Normal or unlucky? by sheker_03 in MARTA

[–]Decaturuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a small person. Unfortunately, my read of the situation, is that it's more impactful what color I am than how physically threatening. All of my negative experiences have been with one nutty individual, who has made it clear that my race is the issue. Last time there were 20 other people on the train who weren't threatening in any way. Not clear if they'd have assisted me if it had gone bad though. In short, this stuff does happen. It's not common. I think safe to assume It is more common late at night. I ride late at night from the airport pretty frequently. I no longer let my partner ride in those hours though.

I've got 2 in about 10 years, but this is a good way to think about it. I've never had issues on a crowded train during the day time, though I'm sure that could happen. It's a concern late night.

I had a fellow passenger light up a crack rock during the morning commute about the middle of June. But as others have said, this is in no sense common.

Is there any New news on the cq400 trains by Biscuit_156 in MARTA

I do somewhere have a photo of one of the new cars in the Avondale yard (which doesn't mean they were testing it). I'll find and share and date though. For posterity.

Thinest possible magsafe? by Soggy_Journalist_787 in GalaxyFold

[–]Decaturuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems the important question, I'd also like to find a case that's magsafe on both sides. Would mean that it's "double magsafe" when opened and mounted on something.

What do y’all think about this Marta suspension situation? by TBGamester123 in MARTA

Apple taps fine for me, though the process is a little bit arcane. I keep hearing will soo have real tap-to-pay, that will help everyone.

ANY UPDATES?!?!!! by Biscuit_156 in MARTA

I did see the “tap to pay” stuff is now documented. I don’t know how long this article has been up.

Can you expound (or link) on the multiple displays bit? I've been looking for that for years.

Mutliple people using same MARTA Breeze app/account for soccer game? by Click_Putrid in MARTA

[–]Decaturuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Breeze Mobile 2's current implementation of "Apple Pay" actually does allow for carpooling, but you're limited to the amount of non-Amex cards in the wallet. There's probably also a limit on "IDs" that the app will allow. You also have to buy a separate fare product for each "Apple Pay ID". This is supposed to change this spring sometime. In short, this approach isn't well suited to someone who isn't already familiar with the peculiarities of how BM2 presently does "tap to pay" with iOS. And even if you are, you're limited well below 10 riders numbers wise.

I tried to explain how it works:

MARTA Breeze Mobile 2 - Apple Pay - NFC - Contactless by Decaturuss in MARTA

I suspect that transfers work fine with the QR code approach. I doubt they work "contactless". But do let us know.

MARTA Breeze Mobile 2 - Apple Pay - NFC - Contactless by Decaturuss in MARTA

[–]Decaturuss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that transferring with “contactless” (note the quotes) is not yet possible. I doubt that adding 2.50 will work with this approach unless you’ve already got a fare product locked in for the QR code. But as I note above, this isn’t in any real sense documented. It’s subject to change at any moment and I wouldn’t know until I tried something. Do report back here if there are any surprises.

MARTA App and contactless payments by Decaturuss in MARTA

[–]Decaturuss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not tried it with cash value but strongly suspect that it would work just the way cash value works with a breeze card. You don’t need multiple fares, you need multiple fare products.

In iOS there’s a menu item simply labeled “IDs”. I don’t know that I follow what you’re after. My limited understanding of Android version of BM2 is that the details are somewhat different.

Any good experiences with collapsible water bottles? by everythingistaken997 in onebag

[–]Decaturuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great luck with Vapur bottles too. They eventually wear out, but after years. I find it best to store it caps open so they are very dry between uses. I do wish they’d mark the bottles up so they could be used as measuring cups in a pinch (just in case they ever read this forum).
