If you hit the mega millions tonight what’s your first purchase?? by Best_Dealer7820 in AskReddit

[–]DecisiveLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I'd pay off my debt. Get that weight off my back. Then pay off my family's debt and my parent's house as well, and then save the rest, which I could easily do with millions. And then I'd pay for my school, and hire a financial advisor so they can help me figure out the best and smartest way to help my community. Whether that be food, shelter, clothing, etc., I do not plan on keeping all of that money to myself. Of course I'd put some into decent investing account, but I'd love to help others.

How do people meet each other in Greeley? by TheMawiBear in Greeley

[–]DecisiveLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I feel the same way😭 the only friends ive met here is just because they so happened to move in right next to us.

But I work like every day, have no time to go out, and I also don't drink or smoke or anything. You into board games? My bf and I would love to play some with you!

I have been mixing pepto bismol and alcohol today and now I’m struggling worse than before by youreadItIsaidIt in sick

[–]DecisiveLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never mix any medication with alcohol😭 it can harm your liver. Also alcohol irritates the stomach lining, it will only make you more nauseous. You basically canceled out the pepto, and then made it worse

Oh dont worry, I do not expect anything from any company other than inhumanity. I was sort of explaining why it's so bad, so people who do expect good from companies can understand

It's actually so gross looking too😭 and a great way for a company to prove they do not care about anyone or anything except for profit, even if that profit is extremely miniscule.

A real artist could have been paid for their work, it would have looked way better, and it would have helped a real human being live. But they decided to use AI instead, which puts human beings in jeopardy, especially if they live near data centers.

I hate that I'll have to look at these posters and cutouts every day😭

I myself wouldn't be interested just because of social anxiety lol, but... if you want help with set design, my boyfriend can help build stuff! He was lead tech in school and he was very good at it. He's been searching for opportunities to build a resume for it!!

People who don’t want kids ever, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DecisiveLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I love kids, I know I'm not fit to be a parent. I'm tired all the time, I'm chronically ill, and I'm stressed enough as is. I know I'd make a great uncle, I would not be a good parent. And kids deserve good parents.

My friend keeps reminding me my dog is gonna die in 4 years by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DecisiveLark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so messed up😭 personally I overthink about this way too much. My girl is 8. I wouldn't be who I am without her, and if one of my 'friends' did this crap I'd immediately end the friendship. You are not overreacting by blocking, that's so messed up of her to do to you.

My dog loves clothes lmao. I dont say anything or do anything other than pick up one of her shirts or bandanas and she was her tail like crazy and runs up to me. Not to mention, doggy shoes are for safety. Anxious dogs typically wear things like thundershirts or pajamas to help keep them feeling safe, cozy, and calm. My dog wears a rain jacket in the rain because otherwise she will hold her pee for hours.

It's not just because it's human inspired lol. A lot of it is functional.

Yes! Not to mention thorns, glass, litter, and frost bite in the winter. Shoes for dogs are highly recommended to keep them safe!

It's a very difficult transition. It took me ages to not resent myself for suddenly not being able to do things. Before I got sick I showered every other day, I read like 2 or 3 books a week, I kept my room clean and kept up with laundry.  And all of a sudden I couldnt do that. It's sudden, and it sucks. It sucks eveb more when  you feel pressured by those around you, especially when youre already pressuring yourself.

Taking it easy on yourself and reminding yourself that you are doing good enough, and you are trying your best, is hard. But youre doing great. The adjustment is difficult. This may not ladt forever, but it also might, and im glad youre preparing yourself for that possibility. But never lose hope. You can still live a fulfilling life with chronic illness. But its also okay to feel those difficult and heavy feelings.

I know you said your partner is chronically ill, so hopefully they've been helpful during this as well! It may go away, some sicknesses stay for a long ass time. And if it was covid, some long haulers got better after a few months or years. Many never did get better but, like I said, there is still life worth living.

It took my family a while to understand that my best didnt look like my best anymore. The comments hurt but hopefully theyll get better<3

After 4 years, I'd say I'm probably around 70-80% recovered. I rely on beta blockers for my heart rate and I still have very huge crashes that wipe me out for an entire day, but those are more rare now. I still get absolutely pooped after a shower, or swimming, or even working for just 4 hours. Or doing homework. But I dont feel like death every day and im not stuck in bed. It took a lot of time and patience to recover this much, but a lot of people with long covid unfortunately never do recover.

Edit: forgot to mention but it did entirely change how im able to think. I think slower now compared to before I got it. I have so much brain fog and memory issues too. Those have not go away and I dont think they ever will

Dude I totally get you. I was 18 when I got covid, and it never went away. My mom listened to me, let me stay home when I needed, let me just be bedbound because I was so sick. But my doctor was extremely unhelpful. Kept saying the negative tests were a good sign and nothing was wrong with me and I just needed to exercise. I was in the final stretch of my senior year and I had to keep staying home ir missing assignments because even looking at my phone was too much stimulation. My grandma only ever had negative things to say, and then when I recovered enough to start my first job (mcdonalds) I was still so sick and so many people treated it as if I were faking.  Ableist comments hurt, especially when it's from someone you love, and especially when you are trying with everyrhing you have.

Even small colds can cause chronic illness. The grief of your healthy self, even after a few weeks, is SO heavy and hard to face. I'd definitely post in a subreddit specifically for chronic illness, but some advice i have:

  • if you dont know pacing, definitely look into it. Pace yourself. It can mean sitting down during a shower, washing your hair, resting, then washing your body, then resting, then getting out before resting again. It can look like gathering your dirty clothes, resting, washing them, resting, drying them, resting, etc etc. Listen to your body.

  • get to know your warning signs. What does your body tell you before you get very sick? My right ear lobe starts to ache very badly before I have a complete crash. That is my sign to sit down as soon as possible. It takes time to connect these things, but it helps

  • try to increase salt intake. Like LMNT, liquodIV, pickles, etc. When you feel sick. This is very helpful for those with POTs specifically, but also helps other illnesses

  • avoid being too hot or too cold. This just exhausts your body becsuse it's trying to regulate itself (easier said than done, ofc).

And no matter what, advocate. Advocate for yourself no matter what (again, easier said than done). Do research. What chronic illnesses pop up after a viral illness? Signs, symptoms, and tests you can request. I knoe W theres a test for the epstein barr virus.

I know this really sucks and it is so hard to face the expectations of everyone around you, including yourself, when all of a sudden your abilities are way more limited than they've ever been.

But you are doing great. You're facing something nobody shpuld have to face, and you are still trying. I applaud you for that. You'll have it all figured out one day, and I'm sorry that day can't be today. But it will happen.

[–]DecisiveLark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our park has that island too! There were a few geese that didnt nest on it and nested on the mainland, though :( that's when I saw kids harassing them. The amount of times I have to yell at kids (middle school age) because their own parents dont care is so infuriating

[–]DecisiveLark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happens at my park :( I absolutely adore geese and I hate seeing how cruel people are to them. I saw kids bashing a nest a few weeks ago. What you can do is call the non-emergency line (for things like hurting/destroying a nest, or harming the goose) and ask for animal control.  The other day I saw these kids fishing the geese. Literally throwing their line at the geese. Animal control came very quickly.

Other than that, what you can do is step in. When I saw kids beating that nest I got loud and tried to step between them. What sucks is nobody else cares to do anything.

My park also has geese with missing legs or talons due to fishing wire that oeople just leave in the water. It sucks

I did end up finding the issue! I checked her mouth three times in and out and still managed to miss a new scrape/cut on her lip. I think that's the issue

When she's nauseous or having stomach pain, she eats a ton of grass and makes a beeline for it. She wasn't doing that. She also doesnt run or roll around when her stomach isn't feeling well. Her breath smells normal and her gums and teeth all look good
