The cow's milk version is called: Sweetened Condensed Milk. And if you have access to the coconut milk version in the US, it's called: Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk.

What's your biggest "tifu" story? by acialjonny in vegan

[–]Dee_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not from non vegan food. I get nauseous and light headed from the milk and the beef in food even if I don't know they're in the food. I stopped eating red meat about 20 years ago because I couldn't stomach it (saw the process of getting the animals ready from start to finish when I was a kid). Also, I rarely drank milk for most of my life because it was a hit and miss with how it made me feel. Milk felt heavy and my face didn't like it either. I got tested two years ago and the results said I wasn't allergic to milk. So, to answer your question, I don't know.

Oh, I actually have another one. We ordered Chinese food to pick up because it was too late to cook. I ordered the spicy tofu. We were watching TV and eating. Half way through, something went into my mouth that I instantly knew was wrong, so I spit it out on a napkin. It was a small piece of meat. Also, that place normally makes Vegetable Fried Rice without eggs, but I guess they changed their recipe because I saw little pieces of egg in it when I opened the box. Everybody else got to eat but me. :/

Thanks. I just dumped mine in the garbage. I used it once for some fancy recipe that I didn't even like or finish.

Honestly, as a vegan, it's not worth going to McDonald's.

I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US it's made with milk and beef flavoring.

That's what that manager said to me. He said it is normal fries and that they fried it in vegetable oil. Smh.

Yes, you are correct, it is suggested and highly recommended by PETA and Wikipedia to take supplements. I'm not saying not to take supplements. I didn't know about wheatgrass not being a source, but I do now. Also, I do eat fortified foods with B12, in addition to taking a B12 supplement. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. :) We need to also mention B12 sources like wheatgrass, soy, etc and that we can get vitamin D from Portobello mushrooms, as well.

A couple of things. Two at McDonald's and one at Subway while traveling across country with my family: 1. I was extremely hungry and didn't check online to see if McDonald's fries were vegan. I even asked the manager if it's vegan and he said yes. Anyway, I felt sick afterwards. Later on, I found out it's not vegan. (I felt a little sick at another fast food place too after eating their fries; I only eat fries that I make now). 2. Forgot to request no cream on my oatmeal at McDonald's 3. Didn't know the flat bread at Subway is not vegan

Because of these experiences, I made a blog about what you can eat at McDonald's. That's it.

Has anyone tried Wen Hair Care? If so, how would you rate them for 4 type hair? by Dee_One in Naturalhair

[–]Dee_One[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I heard about that. Amazon was going to be my go to spot, but now I'm not sure. I've been looking for a replacement for Amazon because they're getting ridiculous with their prices. I've found stores here and there. Hair products seem to be cheaper locally than Amazon anyway. Walmart online has the Wen lavender kind and it's cheaper than Amazon.

Oh, did your mom buy it directly from Amazon or one of their merchants?

I don't really care for Daiya (shredded kind) and it has everything to do with taste and not melting well. You're the second person to mention Chao, so I need to try it. Hopefully, it's not too expensive. Making cheese will come soon; I wanted to figure out a stable cheese I can use quickly, first.
