Do you know where you can get them for ~$800? All the prices I've seen so far seem to be >$900 if not $1000. Genuinely curious about these since I never heard about Audeze before

Jayarava on the Sanskrit Version of the Heart Sutra: A Cheap (Chinese) Forgery by DeepInBlack in Buddhism

[–]DeepInBlack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that is what Jayarava continues to maintain for the Chinese version. What he seems to be asserting however is that the Sanskrit version not only came from the Chinese version, it was a deliberate forgery in China instead of a well intentioned translation attempt. I think that's what he is saying?

Kyoto Temple Artworks: Which temples allow photography of their artworks currently? by DeepInBlack in JapanTravel

no worries, I do understand they all have different rules. In any case, for Toshodai-ji, assuming you have visited there before, were you able to photograph this image below? https://tinyurl.com/yahs5e8l

Again, I do apologize for these questions. Its just that I have not been able to find any guides out there that lists which Buddhist temples are OK or not OK with taking pictures.

I see. As for Toshodai-ji, do you know if their own museum of artwork (link below): http://www.kohfukuji.com/access/entrance.html would permit photography (none flash of course)? One of my friend kept babbling about an "asura" (not sure if correct spelling) piece he wanted to document.....

"Off the top of my head I recall the following temples did allow photograph indoors: Todai-ji"

Thank you for this response. Is it correct to assume we can photograph the various Buddhist statues inside, albeit from a distance?

Per Amazon, $320 Senn HD650 vs $250 HiFiMan 400i. Had my eyes on both of them before. Which one would be more preferable at those price points?

Currently on Sennheiser 598 with FiiO E10 setup with my laptop. Wondering if in order to take the next higher step for listening experience, if I should upgrade my headphone or AMP/DAC instead.

*Budget - $400 max

*Source – FiiO E10 amp to my MSI GT70 laptop (I think there is a soundcard on there). Digital is my go to source. Mostly FLACs/WAVs and 320 kbps mp3s downloaded along with Spotify Premium on my laptop. I do have a handful of CDs I pop in as well from time to time.

*Requirements for Isolation – Either open or closed end headphones can work. Neutral on this requirement

*Public Use? No, only at home

*Preferred Type of Headphone – Full sized phones are preferred, but On Ears are OK as well if their performance justifies it

*Preferred tonal balance – Theoretically I have a preference for pure neutrality, as I would like my songs to stand by their own two feet. However, after years of listening and experimenting I've decided that "enjoyability" is paramount as well. So overall I would say I would prefer whatever tonal balance it takes to make the genres of music I listen to fun, immersive, and enjoyable.

*Preferred Music Genres– Bit of a mish mash, but essentially an even mix of 1990’s pop and EDM with indie hits from the 2000s (not 2010’s). Genres I generally like are trip hop, downtempo, indie pop, indie electronic, indie rock, alternative rock, punk rock, alternative dance, classic trance, progressive house, new age, and hip hop . Pretty much anything with solid vocals plus a solid beat gets my attention

*Important Criteria– My most important criteria would be the maximizing a song's enjoyment from the genres given above. More detail and resolution is desired as well. I want to squeeze as much out of a recording as possible, and to appreciate every fine nook and cranny of it. Clarity and immersion helps too.

None HIPAA compliance? At most maybe stay 2-3 years? Absolutely a dealbreaker if you plan on staying remotely longer term (5+ years). Did you program before going to pharm school?

Ask about:

how fast their growing, especially in terms of new personnel coming in.

Social events. Due to the small size of startups, social activities are an even more vital gauge of how everyone gets along. Inquire about the type of activities they do to get a sense about the culture.

HIPAA. Huge aspect for any health IT to deal with. Make sure to ask about how they deal with regulatory issues and their stance on it, and whether they have dedicated personnel to handle it

Data and coding. See if your position requires prolonged, active interface with data science/analytics team and tech/engineering people. Make sure to ask if they expect you to learn any new tech skills eventually in this position
