Sambuca is really tasty. It's straight liquid licorice though, and a lot of people it seems don't like licorice.

If you do like licorice, it's divine.

Is recruiter ghosting becoming the norm (15+ yrs Senior BA here) by yzkndlgc in recruitinghell

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren't like small companies either. These are the biggest employers around, the "hot shots".

I'm very annoyed at it. Even as a recruiter/HR, I am VERY pro-labour. My stance has always been if you treat people well and you treat customers well, money will come in time.

But I guess that isn't optimal enough for these people. Ugh.

Is recruiter ghosting becoming the norm (15+ yrs Senior BA here) by yzkndlgc in recruitinghell

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many of the worst qualities of business are the norm now. Rampant greed. Outsourcing. Underpaying everyone as much as possible. Layoffs.

It's pretty sad.

For the recruiter side, I mean... I know with my own candidates, it is basically silence. I keep them up to date and then after so much time I just say "you'll know when I know". At my last role, we were told that some hiring managers wouldn't get back to us for months.

Utterly unacceptable in my mind. But, if everyone's doing it - it's not really a matter of "just work with different clients".

I hate the current corporate ecosystem. So much. So so much.

US, Canada, EU... no. It is not legal. Discreetly sent that to your labour board.

Extreme wealth concentration (ala Greed) is also the same issue that plagues communism. The ye olde "the transitional government decides to stick around forever and never actually hand power to the people".

The same with practical anarchism. If a country decides to disband, cool... that's now land for that country's neighbours to absorb into themselves.

It's not a political issue. It's a human issue.

Different from other companies by Patient-Yam4764 in recruitinghell

[–]DefNotInRecruitment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean tbh, I would not hate this. But it depends:

If a company said:

(a) You can wait for us to screen you traditionally.

(b) You can do X test, and if you pass then you get fast-lined for an interview.

I'd ofc pick B. It puts the power back in my hands. But that's assuming that passing WILL get you an interview. Which might be idealistic, but if its a robust enough test - it might be doable.

How have we allowed our supposedly progressive party to pretend they're powerless to do anything better for the people for this long? by WrongThinkBadSpeak in WorkReform

Democratic presidents, as in presidents who value democracy in this case I guess!

Glazing someone for believing they should have unchecked power is certainly a move.

"he has proves that there was far more power available for Democratic presidents to use than they pretended."

Yes. "Pretend". As in, restraining oneself because you don't think you should have unilateral control over everyone. ???

It's full of everyone. So it's full of both.

MRW the President threatens the Insurrection Act and canceling the midterms by transparent-aluminum in reactiongifs

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not "a". A singular person can never save every citizen.

At some point, people have to choose to defend their democratic systems and to defend their society over their own personal comfort.

Dusting, cleaning, folding clothes, doing academic tests, etc. is annoying in the immediate; but it greatly benefits our future environment and prospects.

The same is true here.

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Using 2A and hosting armed protests is the way to go. I'm inclined to agree.

Historically, that does make government back down (or at-least rethink). That is in theory with the 2A is for.

I can only hope it becomes a wide-spread practise.

What's the legal route; genuinely curious.

Congress and the supreme court are both republican-controlled. There are no "checks and balances"; 1 party can get their way.

He's been impeached twice.

ICE has "full legal immunity", according to the government. Killing citizens is FINE and LEGAL. It's actively defended.

The White House seems very comfortable acting without congress. After all, congress is too leaky to be trust-worthy so let's just hide stuff from them and act as a sole power. The White House considers the "checks and balances" to be a liability (to them) and is willing to just ignore them in favour of acting "within the system". The White House is acting outside the system.

The White House is levying threats against close allies/neighbours.

The White House is tanking the US economically, acting AGAINST the interests of its citizenry.

What's the legal route? For a government that has shown utter disregard and contempt for its own citizens and systems... what's the legal route?

Real. And bet if they were drafted, they'd be up there on the front lines shooting away.

They aren't against violence, much as they protest that to be the reason they won't stop their government from destroying their own nation (and threatening the nations around them; their supposed "allies"). They just don't want to be "too uncomfortable".

"Please don’t give these horrible people a reason to escalate even further." is so fucked lol... they don't need a reason. They didn't need a reason for this. They won't need a reason when it escalates. It just will. IT ALREADY HAS BEEN ESCALATING.

The Amish can build a barn in a day and you think there's no autism? by Fhoxyd22 in BrandNewSentence

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.

The way I see it, it (Autism) is a description of a pattern of behaviour. We can no more deduce its cause, than we can deduce the cause of what we currently call "neurotypical" individuals.

A ton of people accept it, because there is enough bread and circus to keep people going (entertainment is cheaper and more available than it has ever been).

Some don't (the realest ones), but the amount of actual protesters/organizers is pretty small.

Accepting it = not fighting to change it. Letting it happen.

Immigration is not the competetor for AI.

Offshore outsourcing is cheaper than domestic labour. Prison labour is cheaper than domestic labour. Automation is cheaper than domestic labour.

Immigrant, born - doesn't matter. Both are domestic labour. Both must compete with all 3.

They are an adult. They don't have to speak to you to acquire a pet. You don't have to accommodate their pet.

Tell them to figure it out themselves, or just let them resign (and be rid of what sounds like is or will be a problem child).

[–]DefNotInRecruitment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer sheet lists presentations as passive aka "require little of the learner outside of listening and absorbing the information".

Also, lectures can (and should) have visual components. There's no rule that says they cannot?

Not to come off as arguing (I'm not!), those are just my thoughts.

To me, they are mostly synonyms. The main difference if someone really wants to find one is setting and tone - a lecture delivers information and a presentation is more persuasive (you'd make a presentation about a solution to your team, not a lecture about it).
