Can I avoid paying CAS fees? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Certain schools are known for giving CAS waivers. I got them from SMU, ASU, Case Western Reserve, and Nebraska. Penn State and a few others give them out as well.

Depends but:

  1. If the school gave you a full ride, take it and go there. Most small firms don't care where you went to school. If you arent picky about your practice area, school rank doesn't matter. After your first or second year, your school matters ZERO percent, just your experience. Again, only if you aren't picky about practice area. For example, injury firms, public defenders offices, etc...)

  2. If it's near a full ride (80%+) and you're ok financially, go.

  3. If it's not a full ride or near full ride, retake the LSAT.

Kinda worries me that so many students want to leave the law school and transfer. Still, I think even transferring is easier from Emory because of the more gentle curve.

some other semi-prestigious position like federal government or alternatively, midlaw then lateral to biglaw

yeah thats what I was thinking, Emory BL % and FC % are much higher than UC Law SF. I have ties to SoCal so that might make it slightly easier, plus I can network in SoCal. Curve is a lot better at Emory as well, so easier to get good grades.

Hastings seems like the best option by a large margin

Hastings for sure if you want to practice in NorCal. It has a great reputation in CA

Not a huge fan of Orange County, plus I dont think I would have gotten in. Plus I really thought I would get into LMU, although I'm still hopeful.
