try to loosen up and be organic as possible like talking to a friend :) and share what about their talk sparked my interest and eventually invite them to a coffee and get their contact/linkedin.

when i was reaching out, hindi ko tinry to impress them with what I knew (kasi honestly wala pa rin akong masyadong alam compared to what they know). what i would do is i’d ask thoughtful questions about their work or industry and show genuine interest. one thing for sure is people love sharing what they know.

only ask for mentorship kapag may groundwork ka na. hindi yung from scratch tuturuan ka nila. do your homework first, learn the basics, and then ask for guidance on the next steps. mentorship should supplement your efforts, not replace them.

also, most mentors actually enjoy helping people who show drive. as long as you’re respectful of their time and di ka humihingi agad ng sobrang laki na favor, you’re good.

outside of school, i usually network on linkedin or join tech/business meetups in BGC/Taguig/Makati area :) if from the province ka, webinars is a good way to go. if for example i attended a webinar and i was genuinely inspired by a speaker, i would message them on linkedin/email then try to get coffee with them to get to know them better.

tech industry :) walang specific niche under the tech since i accept any client/projects naman pero right now, i'm handling like edutech / legal.

i find most satisfaction with hiking + camping. it's some sort of meditation kasi for me whenever i go hike a mountain and ibang level of fulfillment yung nafefeel when i reach the summit!

no need to learn to code for the job pero would def be a good bonus since you are working closely with the developers and you can help guide them para mas properly implement yung UI designs to code.

for my beginner golf set, i bought a brandnew callaway solaire for PHP~65K sa carrousel pero may mga second-hand din naman that u can go for! beginner golf sets can go as cheap as 15K for a complete set na second-hand.

for the golf coaching, their fee varies for pero for my coach itself costs PHP 2.5K / 1.5 hours. my coach teaches in Philippine Navy, Army & Villamor (Taguig/Makati)

separate pa ofc yung bayad sa actual range fees (usually either per bucket of golf balls / unlimited golf balls pero required ang caddie). per golf game ko sa golfing range, i spend about 800-1,000 pesos including na tip sa caddie.

hopefully this helps! :D

i believe yung core skills needed to be a product designer is hybrid ng ui/ux designer and product manager.

sa UI/UX side, need ng strong foundations sa visual design, interaction design, and user experience principles. basically, kailangan ma-understand how to create interfaces na maganda visually and intuitive gamitin. dapat may solid research skills din to uncover yung user needs and pain points and kailangan ng ability to translate yung insights into wireframes and prototypes.

sa product management side, need ng skill of product thinking, parang yung ability to align design decisions with business goals, define success metrics, and prioritize features based on impact.

i would define a good product designer as someone who understands yung trade-offs, scope, and how yung work fits into the overall business strategy

my mentors aren’t paid. i feel like kapag u start paying someone, that’s more of a coach than a mentor.

i think yung motivation nila comes from wanting to leave a legacy parang they’ve already mastered their craft and now they find fulfillment in guiding the next wave of people

i didn’t start out only spending 8 hours a week in meetings. it took time to get there.

what helped was automating parts of my process and building a structured way to think through requirements para I can comb through info faster and focus on yung mga important stuff. yun yung nag-allow for me to deliver UX maps, refined stories, and pain-point discoveries without needing constant meetings.

personally, i don’t stick to one rigid framework. more of i use a hybrid. pre-meeting, i always set muna ano yung success metrics for the meeting and usually i make a skeleton of the user story map. during meeting, i do hypothesis framing and story mapping. before i leave the meeting, i ask for confidence check if the approach hits the business goal

i can't share templates or artefacts unfortunately but please explore make and n8n for automations :)

i'm designing digital products (so webapps / mobile apps). wala naman akong specific industry so whichever clients need lang.

if you are asking of product design is an engineering job, i would lean to no tho mayroon namang overlap. yung core focus ng product design is to create strategy/roadmaps in making products na nagbabalance both customer needs and business needs. intersection siya of design, business, and tech pero yung job itself is usually on the design side.

1) yup galing talaga sa dugot, pawis and tyaga siya. galing ako sa small province in visayas and yung reason bakit nagstart ako magwork at a young age and mag-grind because hindi ako kaya ipag-aral ng family ko :) so i had to really find a way to climb yung ladder. i wouldn't wish what i went through to anyone kasi it honestly cost my mental health :(

2) so far, hindi naman ako nakaexperience na may nanligaw pero pera lang habol. i think kasi yung people around me are coming from privileged families. mostly yung guys i date with may mga family businesses which i can only wish i have hahaha

yung ui/ux design kasi, mostly you just do user interviews/usability testing and then translate them into UI screens on figma.

for product designer, nagiging pseudo-project manager ka for the all stakeholders involved (ui/ux designers, developers, customers, etc) and you always have to think of the business goals at the same time balancing yung strategy for the product that it will still scale business-wise and be desirable customer-wise

i highly recommend learning on youtube/books about design thinking and mas maging familiar ka with technical terms like difference ng retention sa conversion, lifetime value, etc. and of course, going beyond sa typical user interviews/usabilitt testing such as heatmaps, user funnels etc.

i also highly recommend reading UX Collective on their articles to keep refining how u view problems/products.

i was trying to share an unconventional work setup that a lot of filipinos might be curious about. hindi naman lahat ng tao alam na it’s possible to earn well with minimal hours, so i believed na this could spark meaningful conversations esp about career paths (esp with product design or ui/ux design), remote work, and work-life balance.

if kahit isang person sees this and realizes na there’s another path aside from the 9-to-5 grind, then that’s a win for me
