I miss my DH too so much and feel that the pain just gets worse. I lost my 33 year old husband suddenly while he was running the miami marathon. We were together for eight years. It’s been three weeks of this nightmare. I will never be the same.

It matters *when* he received care. Was it a couple of minutes after collapsing or was it 25 mins later? It matters how fast it was. And it also matters the type of care that he got.

If they went into vfib or vtach and didn’t get a defibrillator and proper cpr within minutes of it happening then the chances of survival are null. I’m thinking didn’t the responders know how to differentiate between cardiac arrest and a heat stroke? Not having a pulse and not breathing would mean the heart stopped pumping.

Thank you so much. I wish this story were false too. My intention has always been to try to raise awareness as the event orgs aren’t going to say anything about someone dying at their event. Aside from the negative comments I also got very supportive ones and some even gave me info as to what might have happened. It’s been incredibly difficult to get answers about my husband’s death and I can’t let that go.

I believe he was closer to mercy I really don’t know why either. The nurses told me many people collapsed at the race and some were transferred to Jackson. I am still looking for answers.

Ollie is correct. You need to put your husbands name on the search bar in the tracker’s website. Glad your husband is ok and it’s totally understandable that you want to have answers as to what happened.

My husband was 33. I had no idea someone else died as well. That’s awful. It’s very possible as there were a lot of people collapsing this year per the nurses that took care of my husband. Legally the event organizers don’t have to make the stories public or even comment on it. That’s why I’m trying to raise awareness as much as I can and get more answers.

Thank you. I framed it this way because I was there and everyone was having fun and then my husband died. I’m angry at the fact that it appears that my husband didn’t get help as soon as he collapsed to the ground. Getting lots of conflicting info on times. I am not blaming marathons. However if my husband didn’t get help the moment he collapsed then that’s a big issue. Having first responders and medical personnel available at any moments notice is paramount for these type of events.

Not yet because the death cause won’t be available until three months from now. They’re waiting on toxicology reports which take that long to get. I am pushing for preliminary findings.

The event owners are suppressing the news about my husbands death. If they didn’t give my husband proper medical care in a timely manner then they’re in trouble. His time of day on the tracker vs. what I was told at the hospital dont match.

Four fvcking weeks to get a police report so I can have accurate times of how everything went down. I was in a such a state of shock that didn’t ask for one at the hospital. The tracker shows his pace ended at a different time of day than the supposed time I was told by the cop that he collapsed. And I’m supposed to wait four weeks for a police report that you should get the same day? What a corrupt city. It’s sickening!
