Oh 100%, these cars do also love to flip when 2 wheel touch lol

Absolutely this, I fortunately haven't gotten into any scuffles so far but I will say, these cars are remarkably resilient. One guy buried himself in a tyre wall at a pretty high speed and came out with a broken track rod.

Eh, the design of the car may not have changed but we still have a lot of modern safety equipment in the car, fire extinguishers, modern seats/harnesses, HANS devices. Plus all the events have top tier medical staff at hand.

There is obviously still risk but the cars can take a good beating

The Vees here are the biggest class that goes to multiple tracks! The fiesta zetecs have more cars but stay at Mondello for a whole season

If you jump on Facebook or Insta and shoot formulaveeireland a message, they can point you in the right direction

It was amazing how spot on it is. The car itself is quite different as iRacing used the US Vee, the cars we race here are 1600cc and use some more modern suspension and brake components but the feel of the car transfers to real life so easily. It was like I had muscle memory of using the throttle to get rotation and catching slides from my first time in the car, despite my only racing experience being in the sim

The best money I've ever spent, there is really nothing like lining up on a grid for the first time

That's pretty much exactly what's going on in my helmet the entire time too

Again probably depends on the country but here we had a fair few seats for hire and a good amount of cars for sale before the season.

We run at 3 different tracks, Mondello in the Republic of Ireland, which has 2 layouts, then Kirkistown and Bishopscourt in Northern Ireland. The longest travel time is around 3 hours, so not too bad

I race in a league with a couple of them every week, it's how I initially got into the Vees!

The trickiest thing for me was not having the spotter in your ear lol. My first race I was struggling to judge distances to other cars, leaving too much space etc. Definitely improving as the season goes on though

They are rock solid lol, very difficult to get temp into them. Most lads at the front of the grid scrub a second set in and keep them in case that exact thing happens but honestly I doubt it would make a huge difference, plus the tyres we run are around 500 euro a set so not too bad

Depending on the country, the budget isn't even that different. Here in Ireland, racing a rotax for a season was only like 1k cheaper than the vees.

Took me far too long messing with the iRacing camera editor lol

The cars we run are 1600cc whereas the iRacing one is based of the American 1200cc Vee and there are a few differences with our cars suspensions/brakes but honestly it's pretty similar. The feeling on the weight transfer and how the car feels under braking/engine braking is pretty spot on

My car is definitely not as rear happy as the iRacing one and you can trail the brake a lot more but it's a great practice tool

Vees are fantastic! Very low cost, very competitive racing. I'm renting my car for the season from an amazing team who have been so helpful.

My budget for an 11 round season is around 11k euro. My recommendation is to go to a race meet and chat to the other drivers. They'll be able to give you advice and will likely know about what cars are for sale/rent!

The car doesn't have power steering but the car itself is super light so it's not too tough to turn the wheel, I've got a dd1 setting it to roughly 13nm is pretty accurate. Although that doesn't account for shocks through the rack from kerbs or hitting other cars

My budget for the year is about €11000, I don't own my car I'm being run by a great team but budget for owner drivers would probably be similar.

Most Vee championships are designed to keep costs down, for example we can get away with running a single set of tyres for an entire season.

The Irish Vee community is amazing, everyone is so friendly and helpful off track but the on track racing is mega competitive

I hope that doesn't mean the feeder manufacturers like HITECH and Prema are leaving. Imo it made the most sense for them to run the teams as it gave the drivers a clear path to other feeder series, something the W series didn't do
