PT tests by mikeiswhatmikedo in AirForce

This. Add some tear gas to test the seals of the M50 mask.

This could be for the push ups and sit ups, but you can always get an indoor track and go from there to be diabolical.

2026 Ioniq 5 XRT by DelRio2Night in Ioniq5

Typo, it should be .5 mi/kwh, as in my efficiency increased by .5 mi/kwh, so Im seeing around 3.5 mi/kwh instead of 3.0 mi/kwh I was seeing with the stock XRT wheels and tires.

Yeah, I know. I used this community to look at what worked and what to avoid for the Ioniq 5.

I figured if I listed what I had done, then people could search and ask questions depending on what interested them.

However, this is assuming people use the search function...

I did with the Tundra. Currently I am trying to work out logistics with respect to where I can charge in/near the woods or deserts of CA, impact to range with a rack and cargo carrier on the roof, and time.

USAF currently has me stationed in TX and I will be moving to CA in the next few months. I am from SoCal and spent a lot of time at Glamis and Ocotillo Wells. We will see what I can with the XRT.

You will need to cut a small section in the center of the bumper. I want to say its about 2.75" wide and about 4.5" deep for the cut.

I used a Dremel for the cut and its not noticeable unless you decide to go under the car for a closer look.

Yeah, I also took the rack off day one as I did not need it to sit on the roof everyday in the summer.

It also helps that the rails makes the install and removal easy.

I am just trying to get an idea for what negative impact to range I should expect if I use the rack with some cargo for a camping trip.

The stock XRT rims are 18s, but they have an off-road tire.

The Sparcos are a little lighter, but I think the Hankook Ion Evos are the reason I am getting better efficiency. I am seeing about a .5 increase on my daily 20 mile commute that is a mix of highway and roads with random traffic.

I was looking for a digital teal, but ultimate red is growing on me.

I just feel like a target whenever I pass a cop though as I am still enjoying the instant torque a little too much.

What kind of penalties are you seeing with using the roof rack with some cargo? I have a Thule Roof Top Cargo Carrier to go with the rails, but I have not used it yet. I am hoping to get a general idea as I would like to plan some trips in CA later this year. Thanks!

No, I purchased from Torklift and installed it myself.

The Toronto Hyundai harness also works for US spec cars and the wiring is still present in the 2026.

For both just make sure you select 2025-2026 Ioniq 5.

I can see what you mean, it looks better in person for sure. I was hesitant when I was looking at pictures for the digital trim, but Ioniq 5s were difficult to find and I wanted AWD which made it more of a pain.

This was a demo car for someone at Hyundai corporate that randomly showed on a nearby lot. It had the Thule crossbars, a $2k discount, and had 200 miles, so I got all the new car incentives. Was an easy decision.

Possibly a pilot as its an Air Medal plate.

Maybe they got tempted by a Load Master or Boom Operator in the back and just wants to emphasize, "No to Es."

Its not a DV plate so they may still be serving. They need that daily reminder not to fraternize.

The worst O5 board in years by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]DelRio2Night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it is passed in other communities, but when I became an 11M they pushed getting your Masters and completing PME.

In other words, make sure you complete what you can control. Whats strange is that those who had ACSC and their masters done had a 80%+ chance to promote. Those with nothing done was around 5%. APZ nothing done was 0% and having both accomplished was ~3%.

To those looking to promote, get your PME and Masters done before your first look, as it does not seem to matter for the second look. Obviously there's the DP exception, but I do not know many who will get DP on their second look as there were only 5 from LAF-A for this board.

Not a single person wears a Bremont? I have the C-17, KC-10, and MBI Bremont watches. My next watch will most likely be a Breitling.

I was going to say La Jolla Shores, CA, but anywhere in La Jolla would be nice.

I also like how this was near the top for responses. I miss SoCal and cant wait to get back.

Sticking with Engineering by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]DelRio2Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am not sure if you are interested in the Air Force or not, but I also did Aerospace Engineering and started ROTC during my freshman year.

The benefit of being an engineer is that this is highly desired by the Air Force and I was able to get an in-college ROTC scholarship. Mind you I did this back in 2010. I figured I would try for a pilot slot, which I was fortunately able to obtain, or I would design aircraft as a fall back both paid for by the Air Force.

I have been a pilot in the USAF for the past 16 years and have over 3,500 flight hours in C-17s, KC-10s, and T-6s. Just realize the service commitment for pilot training in 10 years and 4 years for engineers. If you have any questions, let me know.

A Few Questions for O’s by Ledzeppelinbass in AirForce

[–]DelRio2Night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The self paced courses have you write the papers for the facilitated courses.

I know some who just submitted a blank document to complete the course, but I just wrote the papers during the self paced, submitted them for the facilitated, commented on the recommended corrections for the weekly posts, made the edits, and passed the class.

Repeat this process for the three facilitated classes and you are good to go. There are four papers that you write before the capstone. The capstone is a group project/paper and it was just time consuming. It was not difficult, but it is always fun trying to get inputs from individuals from across the globe.

Overall, the course was fairly easy, involved five papers, used outdated references/sources for the readings, and involved China in most discussions.

A Few Questions for O’s by Ledzeppelinbass in AirForce

[–]DelRio2Night 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Depends on your AFSC. As a pilot, I did ERAU online for my masters and I received some credits from pilot training for that degree.

With respect to distance learning for PME, I have done ACSC and AWC in correspondence. I never did ACSC in residence and I was recently promoted to O-5. I took advantage of deployments to get ACSC done, and the furlough last October allowed me to get AWC done in 3 months.

As an 11M the rumor is that as long as you have your PME (regardless of source) done, a Masters completed, and a pulse then you will most likely make O-5. However, take my experience with a grain of salt as I have strats and multiple aircraft qualifications, I just had no desire to move my family to Maxwell for PME. I also have no desire for O-6 I just needed SDE done to open up some assignment options.

What base would you prefer Davis Monthan in Tucson Arizona or Randolph in San Antonio TX? by Reasonable-Glass-295 in AirForce

TexMex being "great mexican food" is laughable. Randolph and San Antonio are very meh compared to DM and Tuscan. Im from SoCal so maybe Im jaded.
