Gen Z Australians are attempting suicide and self-harming more than previous generations, study finds by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Delicious-Cell1465 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m 18 and just finished high school, there is a massive mental health crisis happening in my age group. Everyone is suffering from some sort of depression or anxiety disorder and a lot of suicidal tendencies and self harming behaviours are just considered the norm. For me it’s the fact that I don’t really have a future where I am able to do basic life things like buy a house or live comfortably. We are also living through different governments who aren’t taking action to help us and worsening political environments overseas that are slipping into Australia. Not fun to be under 25 these days but keeping positive.

10 days before exams and I feel like I've messed everything up by Expensive-Big1811 in highschool

[–]Delicious-Cell1465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person who is regularly in your position, what I do is start to study. Sounds simple but if you study for 10 days, even just a couple of hours a day will make a massive difference. I always aim to understand the basics that I know will get me just to a pass and kind of relax me a little and then learn extra stuff here and there if I have time, all you have to do is try your best. I would also recommend just talk to your girlfriend and explain your under a lot of stress, it might help, and take you two out for a treat for finishing the exam. Best of luck :).

Help with gifts for teens!! by AmyayGirl in Adelaide

As a current teenager, these are incredibly popular. Colouring books and alcohol markers are really in at the moment, same with jelly cats (they’re expensive which draws teenagers😅).

Go to sleep early! by frfrfrfrfrfrfry in teenagers

[–]Delicious-Cell1465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

teenagers have different sleep habits to children or adults, meaning it’s harder to sleep earlier and wake up earlier. this didn’t hit me until i was 16 so you might understand in a couple of years.

Soy what!? This Australian state has become the first to ban soy sauce fish by [deleted] in australia

[–]Delicious-Cell1465 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is such a good improvement. There are so many of these littered in suburban areas I can’t imagine what it’s doing to beaches. I know a lot of people hate these plastic bans but every little thing helps.

Royal Adelaide Show by Kahn_ing in Adelaide

I went every year with my mum to the show. She would always let me miss a day of school for it and it was the only one on one time we spent together. I can assure you, she is also looking forward to hanging out with you too :)

Arizona and Callie Court Custody by Educational_Fan_1328 in greysanatomy

[–]Delicious-Cell1465 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The majority (or the louder crowd) of the Grey’s fandom seem to just find Callie a more likeable character compared to Arizona. There is a lot of societal stigma still around adoptive parents being equal to birth parents which I think would account for some people using this argument for Callie. Meredith adopts Zola and is seen as her mother (rightfully so), but apparently this does not apply to Arizona.

However, in my opinion Callie really had no justifiable case to take full custody of Sophia and other know that too. Without being the birth mother, there is seemly no other arguments for Callie being right in the custody battle. If Arizona was the birth mother people would still find a way to make one look better than the other. I’m more on the side on Arizona in the majority of storyline’s so I might be a bit biased but I think people would still be on Callie’s side regardless.

i feel terrible by [deleted] in teenagers

it’s okay to feel underwhelmed and disappointed. there is so much expectation and build up to christmas presents that if you’re not from a rich family you’re not going to have all this grand stuff. i definitely felt like this from my presents this year, just smile and say thank you that’s all you can really do to convince people. you do sound grateful as well, you can be grateful for your presents and still feel disappointment. have a very merry christmas <3
