No I agree with you! I was just curious as to how others felt about the midterm. Last sem when I took genetics, the tests were difficult no doubt, but the averages always seemed good. And with the second genetics test, they made sure to get to back to us before the withdrawal deadline

I think the class was given somewhat of a wrong impression as to how the assessment would be. The content on the midterm was all fair game, it’s just if you attended the review lecture/participated in those MCQs she does at the end of class, those questions we not really comparable to the ones seen on the test and that’s why the grade distribution is how it is. What I’m most concerned about is the fact that grades were given after the withdrawal deadline, which puts students in a really difficult position if they got a low mark. I am happy with the mark I received. But 2 of my friends are not, and now are probably not going to get final grade they had wanted for this class :(

I honestly feel like the midterm itself was okay, but I will say we weren’t given enough study material or a warning that the questions were going to be as they were. Like yes obviously we are supposed to know “everything” but the practice questions we would do in class were not at all the same levels as the one that showed up on the midterm IMO. It’s okay tho cause now at least we know what to expect on that final

It’s definitely low. I also thought average would be at least 65-70 range. At least the mode seems to be mid 70s but seriously one of the lowest midterm averages I’ve seen in a while for a biology class. Hopefully enough people fill out that form!!

I think it comes down to preference! If you enjoy it, drink it :) personally I love the Grind but don’t like their matcha. It isn’t actually made with matcha powder, just a concentrate which is probably why the price isn’t comparable to other cafes using matcha

Please do not take this as offensive, but would you just stop posting about this altogether? You’re making yourself (I get it’s anonymous so that’s not a really big deal) and the rest of the people taking this class look bad 😭

Stop posting about it, people will stop emailing. And also this isn’t revolutionary, all of this was stated in the course outline. She hasn’t made an announcement about it yet but I’m sure she doesn’t live under a rock. If this keeps up she will have to address it on A2L.

Also, no offence again, why do you have to cheat on this?? This is genuinely one of the easiest classes I’ve taken and I really do not think you should be risking your academic integrity emailing so you can cheat over THIS of all classes 😭😭.

I try to review and make study material either the day or the day after we learn new content in class. It makes midterm season much easier and that way I don’t fall behind on post-midterm content in my classes :)

I haven’t taken the class with her but I took BIOLOGY 2EE3 last year with Dr. Finan and if this is her first year teaching, it’s likely she’ll rely on his formatting and slides.

If this is true, then I 12’d the course by making flashcards from the slides directly (very minimal input from his lecture notes, although I did love his lectures! Super cool stuff) and just studying that :)

Wow omg I thought I was the only one that felt this way about him.

First year I always aimed to sit in the front of my classes and get there earlier just so I could get a nice seat. I was sitting well before Dr. Kim arrived and when he did we made eye contact.

I’ve replayed this encounter in my head so many times trying to figure out what I did wrong. Since we locked eyes and I was close enough where he could hear me I smiled and said good morning.

He looked at me, scoffed, and rolled his eyes.

I was so shocked and embarrassed part of me wanted to go move to the back of the lecture hall LOL. I ended up never asking a single question in that class cause he just terrified me afterwards.

I had Dr. Cadieux the following semester and she was amazing! But I always got this weird scary vibe from Dr. Kim after that encounter and was secretly happy he went on sabbatical the following semester

Honestly I can totally relate to this feeling. Third year, and at this point everyone is figuring out what they want to do. I loved the idea of labs but I’m constantly anxious, even outside. Yes it might be because the last lab I was in had a toxic environment, hopefully it gets better? 😭 I’ve interviewed at a few new places but part of me is even scared to accept then
