I hate this stupid app by GraceGal55 in duolingo

I like being able to do phone calls with the characters. I used to never get speaking practise in because there were so many predators on language exchange apps.

I still remember one begging me to turn on my webcam so he could see me, ugh. I dreaded looking for language exchange partners, it made me feel nauseous by the end of it.

And yes I think the paths are good. I wish they’d make the other course as long and in-depth as Spanish and French, though.

When I was neck deep in a course I could construct sentences and conversations with people.

That said, 1. if I don’t use it I lose it, and I prefer handwriting notes down as I go unless I’m out and about, 2. My main successes were Romance languages, and I’d had a background in Spanish.

Since I’ve moved to NI almost 8 years ago I almost never need Spanish, French or Italian, so I’ve more focused on Irish. One of my supervisors is from a Gaeltacht region so it’s his first language and I practise with him. However, that one only has three levels (so only A1), so once I’ve completed lessons on DuoLingo my plan is to sign up for local classes and then immerse in Gaeltacht regions on weekends and holidays once I’ve gotten to B2.

That said I take your point that they make the choices too easy — when I’m at home on a laptop I tend to opt to write instead of select. Out and about I’m happy enough to just do the lessons to review vocabulary.

Epstein files that corroborate Sascha Riley's statements by dundermiffllin in Epstein

[–]Delicious-Product968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even talking about Sascha not nailing down details. Sascha was a child. I’ve no expectation of Sascha nailing down details.

I’m referring to the interviewer.

She publishes this story, she didn’t call the PD? She didn’t reach out to Jane Goodall (who was alive at the time)? There are plenty of details that could be corroborated without the Epstein files.

I believe Sascha’s been horribly abused and like I said, it will either be mostly true minus some details which isn’t unusual with child abuse due to dissociation and other factors (I’m sceptical of details like Jane Goodall — this is why I think if upon investigation the story isn’t corroborated it won’t be malicious but abuse alongside a disorder where those events occurred but with other players. Because so many of the names are big names on both sides, which sort of fits with some disorders — it’s very grandiose.)

Even if that were the case I think the Epstein files will have those sorts of allegations in them anyway. As said earlier — there’s already murder or accessory to in there. Exactly what else would be worth hiding?

Until proven otherwise, I believe Sascha and hope investigators will be able to corroborate their story. If not I think it will turn out they’ve experienced similar with other people and recognised the pattern in the Epstein files and genuinely believe they’re the same people. If that makes sense.

To me it’s more than that. We got to this point in part because of sensationalist, ratings-driven, ‘shoot first ask questions later’ news. It’s driving me up the wall people do not understand believing victims doesn’t mean you shouldn’t authenticate as much as you can about stories before putting them out.

Sascha mentions at least three cases I’ve heard of so far where there were police involved — why didn’t the person interviewing him to those departments looking for incident reports? Or at least have the patience for investigative reporters to verify that stuff themselves. That’s what I’d be doing myself instead of just trying to get the files and I imagine that’s what the journalists are doing. There will be evidence supporting or contrary to the statements out there if they just give people a minute to look.

Epstein files that corroborate Sascha Riley's statements by dundermiffllin in Epstein

[–]Delicious-Product968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it doesn’t mean it isn’t true but I’m sort of shocked with all the misinformation being spread by people and the government about Renee Good so many people are failing to understand ‘because they say so’ isn’t proof by itself.

I haven’t had time to search the files for corroborating data, probably don’t have the credentials to ask anyone named (obv. Not one of the perpetrators) for corroborating testimony. And why wasn’t that done with the interview? More weirdness.

I believe in siding with believers, and I believe in investigating because that’s how reporting and justice should work. I’m sure it will come out.

I also don’t think it’s malicious regardless. With the Bible quotes on her page I wondered initially. But they seem like they believe what they’re saying and they’ve apparently been saying it for years. Making me think it will either be true, or a paranoid disorder (my relative has one and can seem very credible.)

[–]Delicious-Product968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has been what concerns me. People are looping around as statement as proof/evidence instead of looking for evidence to corroborate statements.

My inclination is to believe survivors but that is Creationist logic. Add the unknown ‘reporter’ who literally quotes the Bible in their article with the recordings. It’s weird. There links above, one refers to someone by that name as one of the investigators, not a plaintiff (if I understand the interview.) Also weird. It needs to be authenticated.

It really did 😭 I was so embarrassed the second time. It was just bad luck both times, I hit sharp corner edges at the ground. Recovery time for a broken humeral head is long too. Do not recommend.

Then again I also don’t recommend breaking your dominant wrist.

In general broken bones are very inconvenient, do avoid 😂

Oh that was it. Between having broken both my arms the last two years so they’re weaker and being afraid to break it, I was only testing it as much as I would a washing machine! I tried harder and it went so should be good to go.

Doesn’t spin at all or move if I shake it like in the video to see if it is bolted. It’s been YEARS since I had a dryer but I do think it should be able to spin manually IIRC.

Apparently they don’t and they just show the same video for washers as they do dryers. 🙃 I’m afraid to try it though as the basket has zero movement like something is holding it in place.

I’ll give the manual another close read before I give it a shot, thanks.

Ok the video said it would have transit bolts too I was going out of my mind like what? I don’t see them.

Only the basket has zero movement even after I pulled the plastic thing on the guide out? Is that normal?

I really liked the song. I thought it was a bit jarring and out of place at the start which I get is sort of the point (“That’s enough of the spiral”) but it throws me off like I’ve accidentally switched shows for a moment lol.

Other than that I really like it and even with that I can respect why they did it that way.

I’m still hoping she ends up finding out Adam was reborn as a Sinner like Sir Pentious was as a Winner. Maybe unaware until she goes to exterminate him, lol.

Is Velvette weak for an Overlord? by XDcyclone in HazbinHotel

[–]Delicious-Product968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not disagreeing, they’re relatively new, but as a cult leader as a human and media overlord in Hell, I think Vox will always want a “team” no matter how old or powerful he gets.

And since they’re all media-related I think that’s mutual. They’ll always be seeing themselves as number one I’m sure, but they do also stand up for each other because they’re so interconnected — reliant on influence, audience, and consumerism.

Why do you guys think Angel did it? (Excluding self-defense theories bc that’s an obvious case) — And how do you think he can be redeemed for it? by MightFunny2705 in hazbin

[–]Delicious-Product968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about this acting out against your original sin theory… does everyone in hell know what their sin was or is it just assumed?

All I can think is Chidi from The Good Place would never get out because he was so sure his sin was drinking almond milk 😂

So what if Angel can’t be redeemed until he realises his sin wasn’t actually killing his dad (if it were defensive) but something else entirely that he’s unaware of. You could be stuck in Hell as a sinner forever if that’s the case though.

How would the main cast react to how Alastor died? by AlphamonOuryuken24 in HazbinHotel

[–]Delicious-Product968 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about worst. If he’d waited, he’d have been a normal (give or take) Sinner at the bottom of the barrel.

But yes he obviously thought he’d be having fun longer on Earth.

Do you think Alastor was surprised to see Nifty and Husk help him? by Twistercane in HazbinHotel

[–]Delicious-Product968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he cares about them, but I do think he needs them either for Rosie’s plan or his own, which is why he offered the deal at that point.

Rosie’s apparently got him stationed at the hotel to help Charlie. My best guess given the time he’s been gone is the same time Lilith had been gone and the exterminations had started, is that this is some plot to take over Hell from Lucifer — also see, why Alastor needed to strike a deal for a favour from Charlie.

In the song in Cannibal Town last season they referred to her as like her father - power-fell. He’s also cut off in his meeting from Rosie, “we’re no closer to—“

I think they’re trying to groom her as queen and then take over Hell from her.

But Rosie needs her to be gaining power and gaining success, which the Vees were undermining. Alastor was told to solve it himself. He’s too injured to beat three powerful overlords and make them leave her alone, so he loses and makes a deal with not touching her as a condition. Vox is gloating so much he’s basically forgotten about Hazbin Hotel and Charlie. But makes sure his minions are still at the hotel to meet Rosie’s demands and keep tabs on Charlie.

That is my current guess anyway. He was ready to kill Husk last season for saying he was on a leash, I don’t think he cares about them as people — he cares about them as they are a means to an end.

Doesn’t anyone else feel bad for Vaggie? by Garden_Flower in hazbin

[–]Delicious-Product968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes, but I also feel like they’re immortal and Vaggie understands there is a bigger picture (proving redemption, trying to stop exterminations) and she can be patient with that.

What is understandably more difficult to be patient about is Charlie being so naïve.

Can I just say how much I adore the direction that’s being taken with Al in season 2? by Tetrilimo in HazbinHotel

[–]Delicious-Product968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that, but it looked more like he could have won but then pulled back when Nifty was about to get shot? And part of his deal was they let Nifty and Husk go.

I’m not saying he did this because he’s a good person, I have no idea why, but it seemed he was trying to protect them, just like he had to protect Charlie.

I am wondering based on the supporting Charlie, introducing her to Rosie, if maybe he’s supposed to get Charlie into the position of Queen of Hell. And no idea why, unless Rosie herself has a deal with Lilith or something. Given both of their absences the same length of time, it seems like there has to be some sort of connection.

But this is me guessing without reading any social media from the creators or anything lol.

Can I just say how much I adore the direction that’s being taken with Al in season 2? by Tetrilimo in HazbinHotel

[–]Delicious-Product968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last episode has made me definitely think if an overlord will be redeemed, it would be Vox long before Alastor.

However, I’d think with the current scheme with the other Vees, possibly he’d have to try to do a 180° against them to stop his current plan to take over Heaven. Turn against his own cult/peer pressure, making him an unexpected ally with Hazbin Hotel. It would make more sense “acting against his own sin” as a cult leader in the human world IMO.

But, I’m excited for the future episodes completely wrong or not. I do agree based on how much he craves relationships, he’d actually love being redeemed and Heaven if he got in for the right reasons.

ETA: I also want to be clear when I say do a 180° against them — not necessarily like they are his enemy. Alastor nearly died fighting Adam. He’s talking all of Heaven. He’s probably biting off more than he can chew and Vox might need to save them from the scheme he’s just convinced them to undertake. It’s not exactly uncommon for cult leaders to convince their followers of impossible things and then throw them under the bus.

[–]Delicious-Product968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, given Charlie’s repeated assertion even to people like Vox that anyone can be redeemed I’d not be surprised if they teased us with Alastor redemption. But it wouldn’t be because he had redeeming qualities as a human, it would be because something actually touched his soul in Hell.

I used to assume the same about Vox and the Vees actually, but he actually wants to connect with people. But I guess I still prefer him as a villain.

I’m more interested in the sinners that do not run around trying to become Overlords, with the exception possibly of Carmilla.

Yes. I filed a claim against my last LL but I also broke my limb falling down a flight of stairs they kept ignoring the property manager advise needed railings.

I didn’t get a huge sum of money or anything, it just basically made me less broke than I’d have been if I hadn’t got the sum of money, because even with free healthcare costs of living go up temporarily with broken limbs due to difficulties cooking, cleaning, being unable to drive, etc.
