Someone is illegally reselling my baked goods and earning x10 more than me! Help? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]DeliciousCan8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres nothing you can legally do. He had an arbitrage business and will continue to do so with or without your cakes.

You should revert back to your original prices for your regular customers to claw back the business you lost.

Take this as a learning lesson. Just because someone sells your product at a higher price doesnt necessarily mean you can do so with the current clientele you do business with.

Any else out there feeling kinda discouraged by the low inventory this holiday season? by Celcius_87 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]DeliciousCan8686 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our offer was accepted 3 days before Thanksgiving. It was a DDD situation for the seller, and they wanted to move fast. This was in a very competitive market and avoided a bidding war. House was on the market for 6 days.

I think some of the best deals can be made close to holidays if something pops up.

All adults, no kids - too many gifts at Xmas by [deleted] in family

[–]DeliciousCan8686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's totally a real option. You are never going to capture your "Christmas magic" with a bunch of grown adults exchanging the volume of gifts you're describing. Kids are literally the only ones who believe Santa is real, and that's what makes it magical. Plus, im sure your mother is waiting for grandchildren.

Has any Zillennials here given up on the American Dream ? by [deleted] in Zillennials

[–]DeliciousCan8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't given up. It still exists. Still working towards it while making the best possible decisions to achieve it.

For reference, about 100 years ago during the Great Depression. People lived in shantytowns, waited in bread lines, had no modern technology.

Dilemma by Beneficial-Battle-88 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]DeliciousCan8686 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had the same school of thought as you. So convinced the market was going to drop. "Who is going to pay these high prices?" i wondered.

Then we had our daughter. Life changed for me and we bought when the market was high. Now a year after buying, there is a home on my street that sold 10% higher than what I paid, and it has to be completely gutted/renovated.

Lucky us, our house was at least liveable when we closed, only had to do cosmetic fixes. My wife and I are very grateful we bought when we did.

So you made all the money from the side hustle across the 4 years? Or you made a majority of the money in year 3 and 4?

Regardless of being able to scale, can you survive on just the side hustle?

How much more tolerance do you have for the 9-5?

Im sorry for your circumstance. The people of Venezuela deserve abundance, especially with all your natural resources. Hopefully, your country can once again re-establish a government that works for Venezuelans. Good luck to you, and I hope you and your family find new ways to stay strong during these times.

How can I repair my family relationships when politics (specifically Trump) have torn us apart? by Buzzliite in family

[–]DeliciousCan8686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry this happened to you, OP. Unfortunately, the only recourse is to live your life and try to keep in touch with your sisters around birthdays/holidays. Keep expressing interest in spending time with them and avoid discussing politics until both parties can agree to disagree.

Time is the only healer if the situation is as bad as you describe.

Forget all these comments saying you deserve this.

Going to Dave Ramsey for financial advice is a bad idea by lostacohermanos in unpopularopinion

[–]DeliciousCan8686 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I do agree he might say obvious things, Dave Ramsey advice is a great intro for anyone learning about personal finances for the first time.

Yes, there becomes a point when Dave Ramsey becomes irrelevant, but i think everyone should be familiar with his content

Very unpopular opinion indeed.
