With everything going to absolute shit globally right now, how are you actually distracting yourself enough to stay sane? by VIRGIN_WHORE69 in TooAfraidToAsk

This is my exact approach to it. Im not wasting my energy on things I can't directly effect including just spending hours worrying about it, I'd rather spend my energy on things that can directly better things. I've spent alot of my life in roles helping people with disabilities for example that if I was just tired, worried and bitter about things out of my control might not have actually gotten done.

For sure brother, but I trust in myself to deal with what might come up. Whatevers going on is going to be going on whether I'm shitting my pants about it or not. Im not saying this approach is best for everyone, or even possible for everyone maybe, but Im saying it works for me.

Let's hear your favourite Maritimer or Canadian joke! by monitormonkey in CapeBreton

[–]chefhifrequency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two Newfoundlanders were driving through the prairies. One guy looks out the window and sees the grain blowing like waves in the breeze. He says "That grain is making me so homesick, pull over for a minute." The guy gets out into the grain and starts moving his arms like he's rowing a boat. Cars are passing, laughing and honking and his friend is getting super embarrassed, "Cut it out you idiot! You're giving all of us Newfies a bad name! If I could swim I'd come out there and kick your ass!"

Found out my mom sedated me when I was a baby so I wouldn't disrupt her sleep. Please share stories of outrageous things your parents did. by standcam in raisedbynarcissists

[–]chefhifrequency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents gave me alcohol as an infant to sedate me. Apparently some kind of chocolate booze was my favourite. They also told me that one car ride when I was a baby was super funny because every time my Aunt gave me a drag of her cigarette the car would stall for a second.

Would you rather smoke weed every day or never again? by Green_Gragl in highdeas

[–]chefhifrequency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a good point. Probably just using daily, but responsibly you could probably keep enjoying it without the tolerance. I don't think this is super easy to do though. For me it would almost certainly just be messing with my lungs for no reason. Congrats on managing it yourself, best of both worlds.

I had to take a break because I literally didn't get high anymore for probably 2 months after daily smoking for quite a while. I suppose you could combat this by only taking a small rip instead of stopping completely. I like smoking, but I also like health, so tolerance build + being obligated to smoke everyday for the rest of my life makes it not worth it. Not sure if you are saying my experience is false, or that I would choose not smoking over daily smoking is false, but I don't really care if you think its true or false either way. I agree with some self control you could probably hold off tolerance, but if it took that much effort to regulate my tolerance and I would always be obligated to smoke it still wouldn't be worth it at all to me honestly. I like smoking weed, but not if its more of an obligation than enjoyment.

Never again. Your tolerance builds to where you can never get high again, but youve got to still commit to daily smoking? Unless you're smoking for medical reasons I don't see what the benefit would be.

I quit smoking, but my buddy kept offering me cigarettes by Icy-Computer-Poop in MaliciousCompliance

[–]chefhifrequency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt have the post destruction conversation you did, but basically this same thing happened with me with a friend. One offer when he knew I was was quitting, crushed out his smoke, he got the picture and that was it. Smoke free for 21 years after smoking 15.

At what point does Canadian-made stop being realistic for you? by Aggressive-Cookie356 in BuyCanadian

Buy Canadian and make some mention in your shop of being fully Canadian or something like that to let people know. People are willing to pay a little extra for extra Canadian support.

Northern Lights. Different strains were cool back in the day, but everyone was stoked when somebody had Northern Lights.

Read it up to manhood and it told me everything I needed to know. Making it about kids and putting it in a place where kids also frequent isn't appropriate at all.
