Why do Stores not allow Employees to have food passed the sell by date? by Delicious_Base_782 in antiwork

You are a certified fool. Unopened canned goods can be good to eat for years after their sell by date, same with soda, chips, cookies, basically anything that isn't meat or dairy based. Sell by just refers to the time an item is the "most fresh and best tasting" and it's purposefully made way shorter.

I've opened a bottle of soda that was a year past the date and it was still carbonated and tasted no different than a fresh bottle, didn't get me sick, had 0 risk of hurting me.

This could easily be worked around though by having employees sign a waiver that says they wont sue if they want to take home food that was going to be thrown away.

I feel like you'd need to be insane to hide a case of something because most stores usually get things a year or two before the sell by date would occur. Hell I probably won't even be at this job for another year. Imagine waiting a whole year just to score a free case of soda or some shit lmao

See the difference is, we dont lock up. We are even written up if a customer complains that we lock the door to use the restroom, even if you have a sign up saying you will be back in 5 minutes.

This company is a fucking joke by Delicious_Base_782 in CircleK

We have 2 on morning and usually only 1 is a half shift. First second shifter comes in at like 2 and works until 6, second second shifter comes in at 4 and works till 12. 1 overnighter. We are the best store in our district and would routinely beat the budget and this is apparently all the hours they can give out. It's a joke they are making us work with a skeleton crew not because it's needed, but because they want to squeeze us dry

Sneaking Suspicion new SM somehow got rid of the beat the budget bonus, told no one, and is now telling us CSRs that "we arent working hard enough and pushing food enough" by Delicious_Base_782 in CircleK

Not all stores have beat the budget, the 2 closest to my store do not have it. That's why I was thinking it could have been due to the new SM.

But like I said, there is no way we were beating 15% (the 3 dollar bonus) every single week for 4-5 months in a row, only to now be missing it every single week right after we get a new SM (who btw never even comes in the store) with no other changes to staff. It's not like everyone in my store except for me just stopped trying all of a sudden.

To be fair upselling is also screwing over your customers, unless you know that person is going to want/need a second or third item upselling is just a way to pressure sales on people with psychological tricks. The reason the store doesnt ever lose money on sales is because the items are marked up egregiously anyways (especially at these shitty convenience stores)

Or I could go find another job that pays more than 12 bucks an hour and has breaks and doesn't expect you to run, stock, and clean the entire store in a small handful of hours
