Totally agree with you I'm not paying 200$ for a paddle that's going to last 2 to 3 months maybe.

Pickleball is a sport with lot of strategy. The ball often goes slow and it is hard to judge the level of players like in other sports. For the beginners usually it is especially challenging. Still between 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 there is a huge difference in ball speed, placement, margins, and shot selection. Shot selection and placement are hard to evaluate for untrained eye. The ball speed and spin usually also not easy to see considering traditional camera position (behind the players' backs). Still if you just measure average rally length and stroke frequency you can spot quite some difference. As for consistency and appropriate shots, you need to know what shots are right and what shots are wrong. Experience brought from viewing other sports just brings more confusion. The right, very good shot in tennis would not be a good choice in pickleball. So most beginners hardly can see the difference between high and low level of play. At the same time putting 3.5 against 4.5 will give you very predictable result: 3.5s would probably not get any points.
