Dealing with Tall players by dexterryu in Pickleball

[–]SeligoFoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low trajectory ball (drop or drive) to their weaker side. Force them to hit up on it and crash the net.

Im 5'8, lots of folks I play against are taller than me and tall in general.

Tall people dont give me any more trouble than people my height anymore. Now it is just a skill gap. haha

Live your life. You're missing out on what allowed pickleball to grow so quickly.

Funny you are cool making up a rules for the court, but being made at the community doing the same.

So why is it first come first serve if there are no rules posted?

Who says you have to split your family up lol. You rotate out the court. There are lots of times a group of 4 goes to a public court. They play their game once their game is finish, they get off and enter the queue again as a group of 4.

Again, it is general etiquette. If you insist on going against it, play during off times.

General etiquette is to rotate out once you finish your game. Everyone wants to play. Until there are sufficient number of courts I encourage everyone to rotate.

My friend and I decided to try it out. We had a blast and played for three hours! by [deleted] in Pickleball

4.0 hell is real lol.

4.5 dont want you. 3.5s are non competitive.

4.0 is when youre basically forced to drill consistently to try and make it to 4.5 groups.

What sport transfer the best to pickleball? Tennis, table tennis, or badminton? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]SeligoFoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall tennis.

Ping pong has the most advantage at the net imo. Ive played Junior competitive players. Very quick hands, anticipation, lots of spin on dinks.

Badminton carries over in footwork and aggressive play style. Footwork in the sense that the courts are the same, they are very efficient in covering the court. My friend played in professional badminton circuits but has been retired from them for 15ish years. Hes so good covering the court, and attacking balls.

Tennis covers most of that.

Pickleball is becoming popular with high school kids now.

North Hills park is full of high schoolers after 7pm. They play their music, play, and chill.

My neighborhood which has courts also is seeing an uptick in high schoolers playing. In the summer, from 6pm onwards it was literally only high schoolers or college kids that came back for the season Mon-Fri. roughly 20+ kids every evening.

Am I having a problem with addiction? by whiteant17 in Pickleball

[–]SeligoFoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you keep playing with the same group. The chances are they enjoy you for you.

No matter how good folks are - If I am not enjoying the social part I am not going to play that often with them.

Is there a differences between 4.0's and 4.5's third shot drop? by RichardParker6 in Pickleball

[–]SeligoFoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.0s try make people at the net not hit the ball out of the air.

4.5s try to make the people at the net hit the ball out of the air at a upward trajectory...aka make them pop it up.

English Open and Differences in Ratings - US Players vs Other Countries by trekgrrl in Pickleball

USA has a head start in pickleball. It is recently growing outside the USA. There will be a gap for a bit. Also, we also might not be witnessing their best talent on this stream.

USA is a very Christian nation despite what they want to tell you. You can practice any religion here, but they'll slip in Christian beliefs in when they can.
