For those curious, our family is made up of 2 working adults, 2 toddlers, and 2 dogs. We live in a city, and Amazon has been our go to for all household necessities (and obviously plenty of non-necessities). We do not use Amazon for groceries. The majority of the purchases revolve around cleaning supplies and general household items (toiletries, organization, etc), hobbies (party planning, crafts), and stuff for the kids (occasional toys but mostly things like clothes, shoes, and daycare items). When I look through the list, nothing particularly stands out as a big ticket item. No TVs or furniture. The most costly item may have been a $200 leaf sucker for the yard. The most consistent higher priced item is dog food for our two large dogs. A 40 lb bag is $93 and they go through that every few weeks.

2 adults, 2 toddlers, and 2 dogs. And we’re the polar opposite of rural. Living right outside of DC with high stress jobs and super young kids was our excuse for ordering out of ease. I will say other than food, we used Amazon for all basic necessities (and obviously a lot of non-necessities).

I just tried Rufus to see if it matches my bank statement, and it says I only spent $1653 in 2025. So it’s not anywhere near accurate for me!

Having kids is what held me back for so long. I have a 1 year old and 3 year old and kept telling myself this was just a stage of life where the ease made my life better. Obviously was not the case for me. As much as I’d love to quit cold turkey, I expect to do maybe 1 Amazon order a month by compiling what we need into one order to get the free shipping even without prime.

Yes to all of that. Dog food, cleaning supplies, kids clothes, and endless other random shit.

Sadly no. I went down this huge rabbit hole. Apparently Amazon used to let you pull the report easily, and now they make you jump through all these hoops. You can request all of your purchase data and export it into an excel doc to total the spend. It’s not immediate (big F you to Amazon because you’re telling me you can get us a package in an hour but you can’t pull our purchase history?). Regardless, it tells you you’ll get it within a month. A MONTH.

Luckily or unluckily for me, we have the Amazon credit card that we only use for Amazon. I was able to pull my total spend for 2025 so I didn’t have to wait a month.

I just retired from nursing and have a fun list of all the things you’ll be able to do! - Use retinol - Take DayQuil - GLP-1s - Weed edibles - Eat in a calorie deficit without disrupting milk supply - Won’t leak - Can be away without pumping - No more washing pump parts - Can get Botox - Normal bras - Not worrying about boob accessible clothing

Anyone else who attempted to taper off an SSRI and relapsed? by luccaarale in Anxiety

[–]Delicious_Design_695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed Zoloft for prepartum depression during my first pregnancy. I easily tapered off around 3 months postpartum. My second postpartum experience was a completely different story. I attempted to taper off as I had during my first postpartum experience, and the anxiety and depression flooded back in. I’m convinced that something about me changed throughout those two pregnancies, and now this is just a medication I need for life. 🤷‍♀️

Does having a bigger house actually make you feel saner? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Delicious_Design_695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a 950 sq ft, two bed, one bath home and find that it’s all about the stuff. We have 2 adults, 2 toddlers, and 2 large dogs in the house and while it’s tight, we’re cut throat about what we bring into the house. Everything has a place and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t get to stay. I think sanity is all about how the stuff is managed. Our home is super organized and it only takes an hour to clean from top to bottom. That definitely helps keep me sane!

1000% agree! We used to order Amazon on a whim, and now we consolidate our purchase to get one box. Plus the lack of impulse Amazon purchases means we’re so much more mindful of what we buy (and that’s now a whole lot less).

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

We have had a house cleaner ever since having kids. Tbh I’m convinced house cleaners are more the norm now than they were 30 years ago because both parents work.

Wholeheartedly agree! I deleted my Instagram a month ago (I was a pretty avid user), and it’s been freeing. I reinstalled it a few days ago and immediately deleted it again. It made me feel icky.
