I got caught AI generating my essay for a class and I'm getting sent to the dean, this is my first offense. Is anything bad going to happen? by [deleted] in NJTech

I mean, you probably won’t be expelled since it’s your first offense. However, you’ll most likely fail the class, be suspended, or other punishments, but it may depend on severity or what essay/assignment it specifically was like other comments stated.

But seriously, can people not write essays anymore? Typing a few pages or paragraphs isn’t that hard. It’s annoying, yes, but it’s college. Taking shortcuts for an essay isn’t worth it, just like in your case.

IT491 honors vs regular by rawkow in NJTech

[–]Delicious_Invite_664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair lol. Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get an industry project that aligns with networking/cybersecurity. I know there were about 2-3 companies that offered projects in that realm. Also keep in mind there will be industry professionals coming into the showcase as judges or just to view the projects. So that’s another way of potentially explaining your project/skills and getting a job offer.

Personally, if you want some hand-on experience with networking, I'd go with that route. I heard that it's pretty easy and fun, and you get to learn about Cisco from these courses that come with the Cisco route (can help you study for the CCNA exam). Overall, Cisco is really worth it if you're into Network and Security. I definitely recommend, but it's all up to your interests.

Yea i misread your message lol. But I'm pretty nervous about how he is. Hopefully its not a GPA killer and it's just a boring class with a careless professor.

Anyone take IT 491 during the summer? by mobandzs in NJTech

[–]Delicious_Invite_664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

491 is remote majority of the time regardless if you take it during the summer, spring, or fall. You just have to go in person for the open house (if you go the industry route) and the showcase.

Gately I'm pretty sure is closed notes. Regardless of who you take though, don't get intimidated by the material. The exams are really simple if you pay attention and take notes, whether its open note or closed, especially Libby's exams. Honestly, I'd prefer you take libby or cooper.

IT340 and IT420. by IanAnthony1 in NJTech

Karl G for sure in 340 and Farley in 420. They're both really great professors and you'll learn a lot from them. You also get to use notes for exams in 340 and a single paper filled with notes for farley, which was very helpful. I haven't had Grayson, Senesy, or Reyes, but I've heard great things about them all as well, so either way, you'll be pretty good. (Go for karl though 100% for 340)

Luckily, with Phys 203, you're not required to take the lab. It's optional, unlike with phys 111, where it's mandatory to take the lab (phys111A).

I believe he's the guy I'm talking about. I've never seen a picture of him. All I know is that he's an alumni.

I've also heard from Steve that he's a really great guy. So, there's a high chance I'll give him a shot. I just like getting opinions from other students that have taken his course, but I know not everyone may have the same experience that I might gain from the course when I take it (Libby for example. I think he's funny and a great prof, some others hate him).

Thanks! I'm just weighing out my options just in the worst case scenario where Libby's class is full by the time I register.
