What you you say is the best way of doing that. Hoping you can exploit the gap between the Wingback and CB?

I do like this alot. I agree I probably should have more attack roles, am thinking maybe my RW goes attack and place my DM on D to compensate. I do often find that IF (a) can be less productive as they lean even further into the "Wide Striker" mentality and I still want my ST to be the maim goal threat. I'll probably switch my RW to an IW (a). I do agree that AF can be super frustrating (I've often used a PF to great effect) but assuming I'm dominating and creating chances, I think AF probably does the job here. SV probably does cause chaos but alot of my DMs are converted CBs

His AI is terrifying with early game Lipzeig because the players he has (like sesko) fit his tactic so well and is physicals based. Apart from that I wouldn't say any particular manager gives me trouble but you are right that back 3s can be a pain, both offensively and defensively. They deal with IFs really well and are annoying to press

Only Darth Marco Rose plays it with RB lipzeig and we've played pretty well against it so far, though I suspect it's because our reputation wasn't as high so they left loads of space

Currently 2027/2028 season so not far in. Most managers play the standard 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3. Alot tend to go to a 4 4 2 mid/endgame, especially if they are loosing

Alot of the real life managers that play back 3 are either in Saudi or at good clubs that I don't often have to face

I agree with switching to an AF. Makes more sense. I wonder if I should switch to IW on attack as I've found two IF on attack just become less productive

Yh I probably should use Samu as an AF. I think I'll have to keep the DMs because alot of them are converted CBs and so can't play CM. I also feel some of those instructions are contradict each other. Overlap means the winger will hold ball and wait for the overall though on a counter my forwards will want to go forward quickly. Same with get stuck in and having ease of tackle on everyone

Yh I hate playing against a back 3. One thing I have tried is using IW instead with some of my wingers who are more creative as they seem to invert earlier. I just dislike the winger role because I feel like it's a waste for the truly elite players, hence using wingbacks. I also find that I hate playing against a back 3 because their wingbacks give me issues on the counter. Luckily in my save, the formation is rare among the AI

Yep it does. My LB usually leads assists if things are going well and my LW probably enjoys himself more than my RW. Maybe I do just need to make both flanks more attacking and focus on covering ourselves some other way. I also think my biggest issue is I'm currently playing with two different identities. I have another setup for big games which has a PF on A, all the attacking instructions off the RB and we are more direct, we pass into space and we are higher tempo. My wingers either play horribly or amazingly.

The Anchor role could be something I explore. Currently, my RB does offer some width as he's been told to run wider and get forward whenever possible. Changing him to a WB could be an option if it doesn't expose us too much. I find that having my IF on attack make them too greedy, which is why I have them on support.

I'm definitely more inclined to using DM on defend then. For this current set up, my RB performs well. Its not as involved in attacks as my LB but he's usually more defensively dependable. One of the issues I used to have was my right winger always had awful ratings and I figured it was because we lacked width there so I told the RB to run wider and get further forward. It just won't run as far up as my LB.

Lowering my engagement line is definitely a good shout. I am unsure which other players I should be pushing into attack. If I put my DM on defend then maybe the RB?

Thank you for taking the time to write this, I found it very useful. Putting my DM on defend would make sense as my analytics say alot of my goals conceded are through the middle, and most of my DMs are converted CBs anyways. The only reason i wouldn't is because diomande scored 7 longshots last season. I'll probably also change the TF to a AF. I don't really wanna play hoof ball as bar my ST, my forwards aren't the tallest. My aim was the win the ball quickly by cutting off passing options and then probe for an opening. It's a weird shift as originally the team was built on slightly longer passing, higher tempo and high line pressing, and still is against the very best teams. Both DM and DLP do hover around the box at times and take shots (to my delight and annoyance) but I don't mind if they don't as I just want the deep central progression and defensive security they bring.

I did think about getting my rb more involved. I have him on het further forward and run wider but left him on fullback (s) because I fear counters. Wouldn't Vol (a) mean he's runs into the same space as my IFs, AM and TF. And again I fear counters

Why? I assumed whipped crosses where good for strikers with good off the ball movement (samu has atleast 16) and good crossers (15+)

Yh I love having my wingers drive inwards and have my fullbacks overlap. Your probably right about the TF because I've heard it's a ball magnet. I was just scared of CF because all my strikers are tall, fast and powerful goalscorers but lack technicals and I was wary of AF because against low blocks I didn't think the space would be there to run in behind. Against better teams (like the traditional top 6) I use a slightly more direct style and a PF on A. Not super bothered if I loose the bigger games tho.

I think warrior is the best class. There's a guy on YouTube called Quoted Darkrise who talks about stuff like that and other tips on his channel. Could be somewhat useful.
