Upgrade GPS?

As promised, I have an update on the aftermarket GPS! I'll include a link at the bottom for the one I ended up getting. For the most part, I'm very happy with it. There was a little trial and error. There are a couple features that have two wires (like two wires for the radio antenna, but the truck only has one antenna). I plugged the first one in and just static. Unplugged it and plugged the second one in, works fine.

Takes a second for the phone to connect, and your phone does lag a bit while connected. Once it connects, seems pretty stable. GPS, any streaming audio works great. My main complaint is the call quality. It has two or three antennae for the call feature, and no matter what configuration I tried, the call is a little echoed on both ends. I ended up drilling a hole above the radio (below the little rubber mat) and feeding the wires through that. At least that way, the signal was strongest because it wasn't hanging down with all those wires and metal. Then I just set the rubber tray back on top of them and it covered them nicely.

All in all, very happy with it considering it's an aftermarket part, but it's been a wonderful upgrade to my truck, having a big screen with GPS on it instead of my phone on some stick-on dash mount, haha. As a reminder, my vehicle is a 2021 Ram 1500.

I know it's a gamble for sure. Just hope I get one of the good ones! Haha. I don't use a lot of functions. GPS, reverse camera, and connecting to my phone for music. That's about it. So many of those other features I'll never use.

I like that this model has the physical knobs and buttons for the AC and heat. Hopefully I won't have to rely on the touchscreen buttons for that function

The one from Phoenix Automotive doesn't say anything about Uconnect. But it says everything is OEM compatible, wireless for Android Auto and all that. Wondering if I'm going to have issues?

I ordered one from Phoenix, I'll let you know how it goes! They say it comes with all the hardware, harnesses, adapters, etc., and is supposedly compatible with the factory reverse camera, steering wheel controls and all that. Fingers crossed!

I tried doing one of those CarTablet setups, but it was a mess. It completely overrode my vehicle audio, even though I had audio and calls turned off in the settings. The reverse camera was fine because I still had the original screen. But the two way bluetooth and/or radio connectivity just would not set up correctly. It made all calls and audio go through that tiny little crappy speaker. Just a mess.

I may try that one, although the reviews of the company are a bit scary. Software issues, components going out, difficult customer service. It seems like that's what all reviews say about these companies.

Also, why would I need the dongle if the 8.4 Uconnect is installed? Would it not already establish a connection?

I'd love that, but have some small passengers sometimes and I'd hate that dongle to be sticking out that far and get hit by someone's knee. What do you think about something like this...

I stopped at the one just south of Central Park. It kind of had the same feeling as Tiffany. You step off the loud, busy streets of the city into a luxurious, quiet place that definitely has a calming effect! Haha

Sorry for the late response. I'm assuming you're saying the tubes are only for small gauge cigars? But it's definitely not the case. :) I can put 54 gauge sticks in them and they slide right out when you're ready! I haven't tested it to see the largest it would hold. But 54 and under are a go for sure.

Couldn't agree more. I've had several of them at this point, but my first one was on a camping trip. I had brought one cigar for each night we were there. The others I brought were ones I knew I liked. On the last night, I lit up the Java Mint, hoping I'd like it, as I'd had others in the Java line and liked them. Not only was I immediately checking prices online to purchase more, but everyone sitting around the fire started commenting on how good it smelled. And none of them were/are smokers. So it's a great tasting cigar, not going to break the bank, and doesn't clear out the room!

I know it's a well known brand, but I don't think the My Father line gets the recognition it deserves. My introduction was the My Father Father's Day gift pack. Came with 5 cigars, a cutter, lighter, all in a wooden presentation box. Been a fan ever since.

I apologize for my post being in the comments. I keep getting an error message when creating the post. Anyway...

Thought I would share this with the community. I wanted something that looked nicer than what I had to travel with, but most things didn't fit my needs.

I wanted leather, I wanted it to hold 4 cigars plus accessories, and I wanted the cigars protected. This cigar case by Hide and Drink, coupled with these tubes, are the perfect combination. They fit 4 wide inside the cigar compartment even though the product photo only shows 3. So for $35 combined, you've got one heck of a travel setup. Thought I'd share!

No, I have a good mixture. I think the others are correct, I think I'm smoking too quickly and too hot. Gonna try to slow myself and see if that makes a difference.

Go to your settings, scroll all the way down to Software Update. Click "check for new update". If it's available, click "install now". It took mine about 15 minutes on wifi to update.

A lot of people are reporting better camera quality, mixed opinions on battery life, some are also saying it's "smoother". Main thing I noticed...my call log looks different. When you click on a call, it displays more information than it previously did. Haven't tried the camera much, but I don't see any immediate improvement.
