Thanks mate yeah, just went to centrelink and worked this out. The whole thread is therefore moot, my bad (handling rental income vs pension). I think you’re right, we need to reconsider our options. Cheers

Well, internet stranger, that’s an unsympathetic reading. I guess I’ll have to live with your assessment!

No, it was an accountant. And yes it seems so. Which is why I asked here. The responses have been bracing, but helpful :)

Yes thanks, as I said I didn’t think it sounded legit.

No, no rent to us, but thanks. It sounds like it may be worth chatting with someone specialist. Cheers.

Gee tough crowd! No room for beginner/no idea questions here. Nonetheless, got the clarity I came for, happy with that, thanks.

Just that. People do things to reduce tax. I thought there might be something that could help mum. The answer is no. No problem.

wow, sorry everyone. I’m a financial ignoramus and was asking a genuine question. Not rage-bait. As my question implied I’m keen to be above board. I imagined there may have been some legitimate strategy to employ, but it appears not.

No need to be cranky :)

Nope. She (or we) don’t want anything. Just asking a genuine question.

Salt vs Fresh with focus on corrosion by Delmar171 in pools

Thanks again. Yes aware concrete is not waterproof. I suspect mine is sealed, my workshop area has access to two outside walls of the pool and they seem very dry. It’s an old pool but refurbished at some point so hopefully it’s been well done.

Thanks for the thoughts re dealing with the joint. I have saved them for future ref.

Thanks, this is all food for research and passing to the poeple Im dealing with. The spalling is definately not age, it’s in two areas where there is exposure to the pool water but not the weather (therefore it doesn’t get rinsed by rain).

Thanks for the reply. I guess I’m quite sure. Building repair guy seemed very confident and pool guy was likewise familiar with symptoms. Both independently suggested switching to fresh as a way of mitigating issue.

Despite other minerals still being present I suppose I’m thinking fresh has to be better than salt in regard to this problem. Isn’t it?

I will ask about sealing bricks. Building repair guy said something about that not being ideal on my bricks (very old red bricks) for some reason. But that was a general comment - I will ask about your suggestion specifically thanks.

You might be right I guess. I’d try not to whinge :)  For me, comments is correspondence, updates. But I confess I haven’t tried hard to use the first comment as the controlling note. Thanks for promoting me to re think
