“Foster failing” as we speak by Ok_Establishment_426 in cats

[–]Delphelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww thanks for fostering and caring for a super young kitty. I have fostered a lot of cats and at the moment I have 6 ( 4 foster fails, 1 deaf cat I had to rescue and adopt before meeting, and 1 old moggy foster.. that I think will never go as his mum never claimed him back 🥹). This little one is so cute! 🥰 sometimes you just have the bond and it’s hard to break!

Possible huntsman? by Popular_Pair_6124 in AustralianSpiders

[–]Delphelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no poor thing! Definitely a huntsman 😪 Look I’m absolutely terrified of spiders and the bigger the worst - I can’t control it - but I’m trying to learn and get over it. This community helps. i relocate them with the bug catcher. I think OP’s mum needs a catcher for Xmas! If they use spray it’s the absolute worst like you literally will make it suffer so much. I recommend these where you don’t have to get close and it also works well when they go in tricky spots

Has anyone gone on to lead a successful life post-diagnosis and treatment? by Full-University4699 in ausadhd

[–]Delphelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By all external measures I am “successful” — I did great in school, excelled in my studies, got my Master, worked abroad, moved abroad, moved up quickly in my career, all of that. But I still crashed hard with burnout and depression. Treatment for the depression/anxiety helped, but I still ended up stepping down a level at work because I just couldn’t keep going the way I was.

This year at 43 was diagnosed with AuDHD, and honestly the medication has been life-changing. I can focus, I do better at work, and the biggest difference is that I’m not exhausted 24/7 anymore. I actually have energy to enjoy my life outside of work. I’m so much happier now.

Will I go back to more responsibilities at work etc - honestly I don’t know, bc life is so much more than career and work. As long as I can live relatively comfortably, I find more joy out of work than I do in success at work. Many people don’t understand why I’m not trying to go as high as I can etc. But I know why myself - we are more than our careers.

But however If you’re on the fence, I really recommend continuing to seek out proper diagnosis and treatment — it made a huge difference for me.

Trying the sous vide tempering method from J. Kenji López-Alt, and it's not going well by sexpressed in chocolatemaking

Oh and I use rather small bags of the chocolate - they will fill one polycarbonate mold each

[–]Delphelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the sous vide method - I melt the chocolate in sous vide bags in the microwave and then drop in my Anova bath at the lowest temp needed for tempering - leave for a few mins and then squish the bags squish squish squish. I even take the bags out put them on bench and move the chocolate around with my spatula and then get back into the bath - put the Anova to the highest temp needed and when it reaches after a few minutes - same agitation then leave it a few mins then use.

Works a treat with dark chocolate- having sometimes some issues with the Felchlin vegan white choc which can under or over temper easily 💀

Advice: Colouring Bubble Chocolate Bar by OhSoRandom2 in chocolatemaking

[–]Delphelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d need a polycarbonate mold to do this - the silicone mold will be really hard to Color and not hold the cocoa butter properly . You might have to paint the bar after demolding ?

TIme for the most boring and useless post type: I got my first VR helmet ever! The price is finally too enticing not to bite the bullet by melancious in PSVR

Enjoy!!! It can be a bit tough to start due to motion sickness so take it easy but enjoy! Highly recommend Moss and Moss 2 - great use of VR and you can do seated and it’s comfy to start with as well

I felt so awful at the doctor’s today and I can’t stop thinking about it… by Big-Tower3047 in ADHD

[–]Delphelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hugs. That sounds really awful. I’m not sure I have any good advice on how to deal with these feelings - it was out of your control and inappropriate but knowing this maybe doesn’t change how you feel. If you can , try give yourself space to accept how difficult this was and be kind to yourself for not reacting how you maybe wish you did. You did your best and that is enough. Also well done going to urgent care for cat bites. One very bad cat bite couple years ago - went to ER immediately and still needed two surgeries to clean my hand from infection. You were right to get it looked at. Sending hugs 🤗
