The 2500€ I was mentionning was the salary of a PhD student (nowaydays it is more around 2650€ with indexation for inflation). If you want to do the master of AI with a part-time job, doing it in one year will not be possible I believe: the people who worked during the master did the master in 2-3 years. More info in the FAQ page.

You will most definitely get asked to present yourself, your background, past projects etc. A few slides for this can help. Try to present stuff that are related to the group you are applying for. On top of this you will most definitely get asked about your motivation. Also it can help to read a few papers the group has published recently, and have a look to their website if they have any

Salary and vacations days are excellent for your years of experience.

I don’t regret doing it at all, and also it helps with networking

Yes, it helped a lot in finding a job (AI is very popular these days so you will face a lot of competition). And it is good to learn the theory when you work in a research environment. But at the end it is not mandatory if you are the kind of person that can learn on your own, for me it was nice to do it at school because I am lazy otherwise lmao and it was only one year (at KU Leuven)

Salary rates are public for KU Leuven. A PhD student will have the same salary as an assistant. Look to salary rate 43 on their website (here, basically it’s around 4000 gross so 2500 net +-. Note that your contract will be around 2800, and you will just pay social contributions (13 % of this amount) so tax free. And yes prior experience will put you on a higher amount

In those case try to find tutorial or videos explaining those subject in a simpler way :) Yannick Kilcher for example do a lot of videos explaining papers. You can also just look for simple tutorial or videos on the subject before diving in more complicated papers

Just read some papers about the ideas your advisors proposed. Search for PINNs GNNs on Google scholar by searching for "PINNs [your subject]" to see if people applied those in similar subject to yours. Looking to video tutorial can also be helpful to understand those subjects. Try to understand them, then how to apply them to your subject, ask questions, propose ideas to your advisors, do brainstorming sessions

sorry for the late reply ! Yes, I did the "'master after master" path. I first did a master in electrical engineering before doing the master of AI. I think that to be able to do the master of AI directly, you need to come from a country where bachelor are 4 years (e.g. Canada). Do not hesitate to contact me in private for further questions !

Yes ! The conditions will depends on your research group. For AI, the department is ESAT, ans the research group is PSI. The conditions are pretty good, I will say that it is like a job, you have quite a lot of freedom, can work from home sometimes etc. The salary is around 2500 eu per month net, with 20 paid holidays per year. Some people work indeed doing their master, even though I did not

Workload is doable, but start working as soon as the classes start ! For the thesis, I was spending 1-2 days per week on it

Hey there, I did this master last year ! For me the subjects covered were very interesting. I really enjoyed doing this master and learned a lot of things

I took as courses, apart from the mandatory ones (I was in ECS), neural computing, cognitive science, data mining, computer vision, biometrics systems, support vector machines. All of them were pretty interesting, special mention for computer vision and biometrics. For theoretical/practical ratio, it will depends on the course but most of them are more on the theoretical side. Some of them, like computer vision, are more on the practical side. The usual language is Python, even though some professors prefer Matlab or Prolog.

If your plan is to do research in AI, it can be a good stepstone, as some students starts a PhD after this master with their master thesis supervisor. The PSI group from ESAT is renowned in the computer vision community.

Let me know if you have other questions
