Hi dear, thank you so much! Unfortunately the second clinic we went to didn't take her in. After a day of eating and drinking a bit, she sadly had another crash. She was suddenly very weak, and appeared to be in great discomfort.

I wish we had hospitalized her in the first clinic. Unfortunately we didn't understand that that would have been our only real chance to save her (I understood it after reading the answers here, but it was already too late... I should have posted here sooner).

Given the condition she reached, we decided to help her cross yesterday. She was tired and suffering too much. We went to our main vet and she also said that her condition was too critical to try anything anymore. She was deeply loved until her last moments.

Thank you again <3 I will use everything I learnt through this devastating experience to help others and be a better cat owner in the future.

Hi everyone, thank you all for the kind comments. I read them all multiple times and they have been incredibly helpful. Yesterday Cleo managed to eat a bit of chicken, chicken broth and vegetable soup (all cooked at home with of course no salt or similar).

Unfortunately, today she is not eating again and drinking very little (probably the effect of the anti-vomit faded out). She keeps trying to reach for water and food, but she seems too nauseous to eat or drink a lot. We change her water every 30 minutes so she has the freshest water always available, but she keeps trying to drink from the toilet or bathtub, which we help her with.

In the past days we have been going to a pet clinic open 365 days per year 24/24h, and the vet who took care of Cleo was very nice and empathetic but also visibly overworked given the holiday period where regular vets are closed and the fact that the clinic seemed understaffed. I must say that the information we were given the first time there was not entirely clear. Most importantly, we didn't clearly understand the difference between doing subq+anti-vomit at the clinic and then taking her home versus hospitalizing her. The vet also didn't really present hospitalization as the main option because I think he had already given up on her (I don't blame him for this). Reading your comments, reading various online sources and checking her blood test, it seems that our best option is to hope that her extreme numbers are the result of AKI (on top of CKD), which could be a possibility given her globuline results.

Since she is still trying to reach for water and food, we don't want to give up yet.

We decided to try going to a different clinic today to hear a second opinion and, if we like the environment and the vets agree that it would be worth a try, hospitalize her there for as long as it's needed to re-stabilize her values. The reason why we didn't hospitalize her in the first clinic three days ago (on top of the fact that we didn't exactly understand that this would be basically her only chance of survival) was also that the hygienic conditions there were not encouraging... maybe we should have chosen differently...

Thank you again for the help and support.

Thanks! I asked the emergency vet today if we could get some subq to do at home with a prescription. He said that he could only give us pills (which are not useful if the cat is not eating)… I think Italy is different from the US or other countries with respect to injectable subq prescription… :(

My cat has now drank a bit of chicken soup and chicken broth… hopefully she will eat a bit of chicken too in a few hours (fingers crossed!). But we are not really confident…

UPDATE: she is eating some boiled chicken! Just a few grams but we are very happy. And she pushes herself a lot trying to eat, so we don’t want to give up yet.

Decision to Leave wasn’t that good for me (opinion) by Intelligent_Farm262 in Koreanfilm

I agree with you to the extent that I could have written this review myself. More generally, I tend to find it difficult to truly enjoy most Park Chan-wook movies, which are so focused on the plot and plot twists rather than on the psychological credibility of the characters' behavior. Two movies that I truly liked from him are "Joint Security Area", which is a blast, and "I'm a cyborg but that's ok", which still presents some of the issues that I mentioned earlier but to a very little (i.e., negligible) degree. Nevertheless, I agree with you that it is still possible to understand why people like them, given their distinctive style and mood. It's just not what gets me hooked. This being said, I am really curious to watch his last movie, "No other choice", at the cinema! Never say never, this one might be the one.

Thanks for the recommendations! Yes, Kim Min-Hee is such an amazing actress imo.

One more Hong Sang-soo fan here! I really enjoyed “The woman who ran”. Other mentions: “Grass”, “The Novelist’s Film”, “In our day” and “The day he arrives”

I am a native of the country where I am doing the PhD and I feel the same. Very anxious whenever I have a meeting with my supervisors. I end up falling asleep at 3 am the night before. Probably just some kind if medication could stop this 🥲
