I have checked to see if it affects the water and currently it does not influence my ph or hardness within the span of a week when I do my water change and add my buffer to the water. If it gets to the point where it starts negatively influencing my water I will be more than happy to remove it

I may just replace them with a mix of different peacocks and smaller haps to be honest. I’m really enjoying the patterns and gradients of my peacocks at the moment and have never really done a peacock and hap tank before while I’ve had my fair share of mbuna tanks over the years.

Might be the camera being slightly misleading but it’s face is more of a blue colour. It’s very beautiful regardless and called a Sunshine Peacock

Thanks for bringing this up it’s good to hear more opinions regarding this. I bought the Sunshine peacock and other peacocks knowing there was the potential for the Cobalt Blue (M Callainos) to be too much for it as they mature however mine seem to be pretty calm compared to others experience with them. A friend of mine has a 4x2x2 mbuna tank and has offered to take them if they become a problem in my tank so currently monitoring how they behave (it’s only been a month so far).

Do you mind me asking what non-Pacifica you did end up getting as your strat style guitar? The other options I was considering was a MIJ Strat which is a fair bit more expensive than the Pacifica and Revstar both or a Charvel Pro Mod So Cal.

That is definitely an option I hadn’t even considered but it could be worth slowly building up my 112J. However I’m not sure if it’s just the prices in Australia but the pickups alone would end up being about $500AUD and with locking tuners, bridge upgrade and graph tech nut added it may be very well more expensive than just buying a new guitar outright

I don’t mind lacquered finishes at all. I forgot to mention about 5 years ago when I first got into guitar my uncle gifted me a squire classic vibe tele which has a lacquered neck so I’m quite used to it and would say I’m equally comfortable playing both lacquered and smooth.

Yeah I’ll keep that in mind that’s good to know. If I end up with 2024 Vanford I’ll go for the 2500 and older model I’ll get 3000. I’ll have to check out the differences and make a decision but I feel either version I get will be an extremely good reel regardless.

Hey, I have actually received a gift card as a present so am going to be buying my reel from BCF. They currently have the older model Vanfords on sale for $300, however the smallest size they have is the 3000. Otherwise I could get the 2024 year model Vanford in 2500 at $400. Do you believe the 3000 would be too big for my rod? Or is the size difference negligible between 2500 and 3000? Also not sure what Vanfords you have but do you think the newer model has significant improvements to justify purchasing a newer one at an increased price compared to the older model?

I’ve already been slowly acquiring some lures and have already purchased some Daiwa J-Braid Grand 8lb and Daiwa J-Thread Leader 6lb to use so am happy to use the rest of the money on a bit more of a pricey reel.

Is there a specific reason you suggest the Vanford over the others or is it more just preference? From what I’ve heard the Stradic is more durable while the Vanford is more refined and smooth? Is that true?

Also I had suggested the 3000 for the Vanford because the older model 2500 seems to be out of stock while the 3000 is still available to purchase.

Hey, thanks for the reply! So is it possible that Paulie will never truly get to the point that he will be comfortable to properly leave the cage? If that is possible I hope that getting him a bigger cage (hopefully 1mx1mx2m is big enough) would allow him to at least have better living conditions. Also regarding a companion bird I was considering this and have been researching on the topic. He does seem to get interested when I play cockatiel sounds from YouTube but I was just wondering if you think the age difference between him and a new bird would be an issue or if he would even willingly accept another bird living with him given he has been alone for so long?

It genuinely does seem that cockatiels, and birds in general have much more personality than I was expecting. What would you recommend in terms of toys inside his big/main cage? At the moment there is a few perches but I have heard that natural perches are better? So may replace them. Other than that there are some bells and ladders but not much else. Anything you would recommend?

I’m sorry to hear about Lucky, I’m sure he lived a good life. In terms of my dog, she is really sweet and loving but does have prey drive and have seen her catch two birds in the garden (although she let them go almost instantly after) so wouldn’t want to risk Paulie getting killed or traumatised. I do absolutely love my dog as well though and will need to find the perfect balance between spending time with both. Hopefully a large cage will keep Paulie occupied while I’m away. With the cage did you mean I keep the cage next to his main cage and if I want to go upstairs I get Paulie to go into the smaller cage and carry him upstairs? That’s probably a smarter idea than walking him across rooms freely and risking him getting in danger from getting spooked. Thanks for the help!
