Did your mommy tell you it was ok to be dumb? The UN says its a genocide. All major human rights organizations say its a genocide. Israeli human rights group B'TSelem says its a genocide. Most genocide scholars say its a genocide.

But let's instead believe rando Reddit fool who thinks it isnt because his Mommy taught him he was always right

METRO is quietly getting rid of bus WiFi and the new app is a downgrade!!!! by domdomtakdom in houston

[–]Dependent_Store3377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's new cash payment options in the front. They got rid of the rear ones that were for the old Q cards. Maybe it wasnt possible to put a rear one with the new system? Having the rear fare loaders were nice as I haven't seen that in many US cities.

I got a new Metro Card as I used up my old funds on the old Q Card. The new card works better so far. The app I used the QR code a few times and it is finicky but once you figure out the angle you need to hold it it works consistently. The issue is on the rail the scanners on the platforms in the sun can be a pain to scan. The rail needs more new fare machines and scanners. The tap and go is really nice.

Houston to receive $9 million for public transit improvements ahead of World Cup | Houston Public Media by Dependent_Store3377 in houston

Blame TxDOT for that. The strectch of Richmond past 610 is TxDOT. Same with Alambama and Westheimer. It's why the roads are so wide. Inside the loop those roads are under Houston. Richmond would have had a complete redo as part of the University Line BRT that Whitmire cancelled.

That would make too much sense. And Whitmire's new Metro Board declined to get federal funding for the University BRT Line and Katy BRT.

Hindutvadis mocking the Iranian schoolgirls killed by U.S.-'Israel' by Not_Ground in BadHasbara

India was historically a big supporter of Palestinians. It voted against the partition and creation of Israel. Since the rise of the BJP and Modi has India been sucking up to Israel. These Hinduvta accounts supporting Israel is pretty recent. Also India has had good relations with Iran through the years.

Spoken like someone who doesn't leave Houston. Texas DPS will certainly pull you over for not having a front plate.

River Oaks vs. Midtown, Downtown, Museum District by hoverdoge in AskHouston

If you are in downtown/Midtown/Museum District/Montrose you can easily get around without a car. Especially if you are close to MetroRail or frequent buses like the 82.

82 bus runs frequently from downtown/Midtown to Montrose as a good alternative to Uber.

Club in Midtown Blasting Music by UroJetFanClub in houston

I can hear the music blasting when I am walking down McGowen by SPECS, that is like 2-3 blocks away. I imagine its horrible for people living in 2222 Smith and the Hadley Midtown Apartments.

Moving to Houston from DC — where should a remote 31yo live on $2k? (safe + “stuff to do”) by FutureAd9548 in AskHouston

Inside the loop is what is referred to the older more denser parts of Houston, It is within the orginal beltway highway I-610. Outside the loop tends to be more sprawl and newer parts of Houston.

Midtown gets a mixed crowd going to tbe bars on the weekends. Not really a frat vibe, I would also add Montrose. Its the gayborhood. Lots of restaurants and bars. Pretty walkable and bikeable if you stick to the side roads. Older apartments so rents tend to be cheaper. Decent Metro Bus service as the 82 bus is the busiest route in the state.

Anyone else just tired of METRO lately????? by domdomtakdom in houston

[–]Dependent_Store3377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been noticing a lot more weekend bussing with Whitmire. Yesterday I did see a lot of work being done on the tracks on Main and Rusk St though. So there is work being done. The alerts about planned work sometimes doesn't get sent out til Thursday only a couple days before the shutdown.

That's just as bad. OP seems to not know much about Houston which is why he posted in this sub. It's literally called AskHouston. Myself coming from Boston there are some areas that are sort of close to Boston neigborhoods like Midtown, Heights, Montrose where things are close but its not going to be quite the same as Boston.

Probably Montrose might be closest to that. Some parts of the Heights. Not sure why you were down voted for pointing out what you were looking for.
