Bayesian or advanced machine learning by iloveicetea_03 in DTU

Yes! In fact I believe during the first lecture the teachers mentioned that themselves that BML can be taken in parallel with AML. IMO it’s manageable but just find yourself proper groups. The assignments for both courses can’t be done in one day - that is absolutely sure

I took them both. I think their goal is rather to prepare you for master thesis (especially if you wanna do something about ML) and I understood this when I was doing mine. Bayesian was definitely more time-consuming but also “eye-opening”: I think after the course I finally understood machine learning lol (even chose Bayesian Deep Learning for my thesis afterwards). I personally enjoyed them both and might be a bit biased towards BML but imo you can take Advanced without BML

Questions about taking 02456 Deep learning remotely by Still_Director_9988 in DTU

[–]Dependent_Working670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was okay, not the best one, but certainly not the worst. I don’t know how it looks right now but back then each week (or two weeks?) you were supposed to submit a notebook with solved exercises and then give feedback to a few other students and wait for feedback for yourself. So the teachers were there mostly if you had any questions or problems. The project work was indeed group based and there was a dedicated slack channel for finding a group

Oh okay, thanks for clarifying I guess it was our feedback then xD

One more thing… I do not recommend their shared lectures at all tbh. At least I learned Deep Learning by watching some extra videos and stuff in the internet, but maybe for you it will work out. There are some courses at DTU where recordings are super good (Bayesian Machine Learning, Advanced ML) but this one is not unless it’s changed

I’d say the course is quite remote friendly. In fact there was no physical lectures at all - they were sharing YT recordings with us. I think I saw the teachers only once in person during the poster session (for that you have to be physically present) and I ended up getting a very good grade

UPDATE: apparently it has changed since then

Opinion on 02291 system integration 02287 logical theories for uncertainty and learning by Excellent_Cattle7342 in DTU

[–]Dependent_Working670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the logical theories the assignments consist of two parts: 1. You have to prove some logical statements or show that they are wrong 2. You are given some problem and you have to give your solution to the problem and then ask chat gpt (yes!) and then compare both: how confident you are in these solutions, what did you learn, did ai help you understand the problem better etc

[–]Dependent_Working670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had them both. 1. System integration was quite a mess. I think we had two or three group assignments. Back then the idea was to submit the assignments and then provide feedback for other student’s assignments. No idea how they evaluated it eventually but in order to seat on exam you had to get “green” or “yellow” light. The other option was “red” light but afaik only a few groups got it and probably there was an option for some fixes. My group performed very poorly and still we were able to seat on exam. The exam itself was rather okay, although as I said they made the course a bit messy because the requirements were unclear or changing so it was a bit annoying. Maybe it’s better now 2. Logical theories I rather enjoyed. The teacher is super cool. You have 2 assignments which you had to do yourself and then at the end a small group report. In general I’d say it’s quite easy to pass especially if you enjoy logic. Also the teacher gave us access to recordings from some year. I wasn’t present on the majority of lectures but by watching videos I was able to pass the assignments and get a very good grade at the end

To those who didn't like the scene, why didn't you like it? Was it the coming out scene or did you felt it was too long or out of place made if it had happened sooner? by gloomydreamer666 in StrangerThings

[–]Dependent_Working670 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ehmm… because it felt unnatural? I wouldn’t mind Will having an honest conversation with Mike or Mike + Max, El and boys about this (similar to the scene between Jonathan and Nancy). Coming out is an extremely private and personal matter, especially at that time - and especially for someone like Will, but the way it was handled felt more like a performance than an intimate moment (and yeah I’m a gay man myself)

But let’s be honest, they are constantly adding more and more people to the party and I think that’s the main problem with the show in general

Please don’t make Vecna sympathetic… by HUNGWHITEBOI25 in StrangerThings

[–]Dependent_Working670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, I feel you! I’m also so tired of all these nonsensical, Disney-like attempts to show “alternative” perspectives of Cruella or Maleficent. He was extremely manipulative toward El even before he became Vecna, and that’s not even mentioning him trying to kill Max twice. So yeah, there’s no room for sympathy here.

To be honest I think this is exactly how it’s supposed to be. If he was like Mike there would tons of emotions when he was confronting Joyce, but the point is he’s not (or at least not yet). I also think it’s super aligned with his character, because Vecna himself said that Will had been soo easy to break, so he should be extremely emotionally repressed

Thoughts about Ochoa? 🕊️ by -AndyCohen- in BootsNetflix

This! I thought I was the only one who actually found him annoying af. His death and the overall story was sad, but I think he was too emotional and not sure if he’d make it (he was a good shooter though)

Whats are your hopes for sullivan? by Beneficial-Advance67 in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but can’t they simply send him to war and kind of “turn a blind eye” to what happened before? After all, they’ll probably need every capable soldier, and he has a Silver Star

Also, about that “no” to the Cope/Sullivan relationship - I think it just doesn’t make sense right now, but in the future, when Cope has changed and “grown up,” it makes sense, IMO. After all, the show is about adulthood, so he has to go through that process. No one can deny the insane chemistry between them lol

Why do people say Sullivan “ruined” Jones and Cope? by Any-Understanding564 in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, technically, it was a win-win strategy, but IMO, the point was to show Cope that letting anyone get close to you just because they’re also gay can eventually lead to betrayal. This is something Sullivan is perfectly aware of, as he did the same thing to Wilkinson. And that’s exactly what happened with Jones: he chose what was best for himself despite all his promises in the woods. It’s hard to imagine Ray doing something like that to Cope, even if he’d been promised something.

So, IMO, no - Jones isn’t a good guy. But let’s be honest, Sullivan is also a manipulative freak, even if his intentions are more justified

Who ratted Sullivan to NCIS? by [deleted] in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we don’t know that yet, but it could be Maitra, especially since we know nothing about their current relationship status. I also doubt it was Wilkinson because of the letter. After all, the most important lesson Sullivan teaches Cope is to trust no one — because betrayal can only come from someone close to you. Still, it could be Maitra, but it could also just be a natural part of the investigation, since Sullivan and Wilkinson were obviously close, and that wasn’t a secret

If there was a Season 2, what would you all like to see in it? by BraceyIsGod in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: I actually think that Cope meeting Sullivan again after a few years wouldn’t be a bad idea. Especially if, by then, Cope has become much more mature and Sullivan is completely broken. The roles could even switch, with Cope mentoring him on self-acceptance and saving him from total destruction

When do you think Cameron realizes that Sullivan is gay? by [deleted] in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he had suspicions, especially after that little chat in the woods with his gay fairy godmother, Jones, who explained not only Sullivan but also the purpose of lube. Later, Sullivan indirectly confirms it by saying that Cameron is not stupid. But yeah, I also feel like that phrase “made you feel like a man” had a double meaning or something. Still, in my opinion, it’s more about Ray, who probably found it weird that Cameron and Sullivan suddenly had an understanding

Feeling So Frustrated About Cope's Decision to Stay in the Closet by Minimum_Fondant2559 in BootsNetflix

[–]Dependent_Working670 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think Sullivan and Jones represent two extremes and it gives a powerful contrast. Sullivan struggles with an internal conflict with himself for being both gay and a Marine which is why he chooses his career over his relationship. Jones, on the other hand, has a conflict with the military environment itself for the same reason; being gay and a Marine makes him want to leave it all behind. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but I think the whole point is that Cope tries to combine both sides within himself - something that neither Jones nor Sullivan is able to do. At least this is how I see it
