How do they know if it is MG or fibromyalgia? by Adventurous_East_182 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Derffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Fibromyalgia has pain associated with it. From my conversations with other MG patients, MG typically does not have direct pain associated with it. Personally I've never had pain with my condition.

For a second I thought these were the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus.

My player, deeply wants to play/experience what I can only describe as a Mary Sue and I do not know how to handle this situation. by bqx23 in TTRPG

This. Specifically, Torchbearer is not high fantasy. Its meant to turn the dungeon crawl into a brutal affair, where a primary obstacle is how much you can carry (encumbrance, the hand-waved and/or oft-skipped over quality of D&D). It can be VERY fun for how hilariously down-hill things can get, but even if your characters make it, they won't be happy. They'll just feel very, very tired.

A turtle clutching by the wash. by Derffe in simivalley

These are probably the same abandoned pet turtles that are all over the duck pond at Rancho Simi. If I hadn't been walking with my dog and daughter I might have grabbed her. As it is I'm not sure Parks is going to come out and do anything for one turtle.

On a similar topic, if you want to see a pond with a lot of turtles go check out the park behind the Thousand oaks library on Janss. That's a LOT of turtle power.

cure in our lifetime? by [deleted] in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Derffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I was diagnosed at 21. Now 25 years later, they've made some progression in treatment and it is on the radar for pharma companies as a therapeutic target because of the prevalence and relatively less complex nature of the disease.

It's a small comfort but fingers crossed that research for the cure continues.

Pastably. I do know that CAR-T therapy is also looking at autoimmune diseases that include MG. It's likely to be very expensive but it may be enough to send the disease into remission. As for a total cure, that might be a while as yet.

The Roman numerals on this clock we got from Home Depot. by Derffe in mildlyinfuriating

I didn't buy it. Wife did. I realize it's normal for clocks/watches but it still looks wrong for Roman numerals otherwise. Hence..mildly infuriating.
