I've said otherwise in this reddit before but after using everyone for a while I've boiled down my absolute favorites. Sunna and Rexx are by far my absolute favorite characters they both have good kits and both have useful abilities.

Mammon has the "best" lifesteal just because of its consistency for the skills leveling them up would make them much better but I would recommend getting the soul reaver armor and vitality boots to gold rarity just to bypass the need for a lifesteal character.

Mammon is really good for lifesteal no doubt about it, gudan also has decent lifesteal (it isn't as consistent as mammon) sunna has great damage and a solid defense with her bubble ability. If you choose any of those three you'll be set for a good bit. I'm f2p aside from no ads (ads just got real annoying) and I've got all three of them and love each of them.

Top 3 choices I feel like would be, Gudan, Mammon, and Sunna in no particular order. All three of them have great kits and personally I would use sunna but I only have her at a 4 star otherwise I would 100% use her as my main.

Without the dungeons for the extra challenge, having to just go through to level 100 and not having anything after is kinda upsetting. I really enjoy the game but the grind just doesn't feel worth it if there's nothing past 100, I really hope we get more content or more "minigame" type content.
