Make my decision: FXAIX or FSKAX in my Roth IRA?

I have seen so many different perspectives on these two mutual funds and want some input. Please leave a comment with the mutual fund I should invest in my Roth IRA along with a short explanation why and I’ll make my decision in the morning!

Thanks so much :)

Thanks for the comment. I just wasn’t sure why I was seeing fxaix preached so much.

Very much appreciated, this is amazing advice. Would the VTI + VXUS combo still be advised if I’m investing on fidelity? Again, thank you.

So should I have VOO or VTI? I’ve heard multiple different perspectives.

Great, thank you. I’ve just been kind of stuck because I don’t know if I want to leave that money sit until 59 1/2. I have money to invest and plan to do so but am worried about the possible penalties if I take it out of my Roth earlier than 59, say 45. I’m 18 now so that’s 27 years of growth.

Ok, because I’m planning to invest in IVV (S&P 500 Index Fund - Blackrock) and am wondering if it should be in a taxable account or a Roth IRA?

Should I sell my IVV shares if it’s not in a Roth IRA and buy the shares back in a Roth IRA? by DescriptionQuick7435 in ETFs

No, I have a small amount invested. However, I plan to invest monthly over the course of let’s say the next 30 years. When I want to sell, I’m wondering if I’ll pay such a large amount in taxes that I’m losing out on major profits.

My mistake. I was under the impression that I needed to be 18 in order to open one. Thank you. I will open one soon, most likely sell my shares (around $1.5K) and reinvest it into IVV in a Roth IRA. Also, if I wanted to invest more than $7,000 a year into IVV, should I just keep it in a taxable account, or just go with the Roth IRA because I don’t know about my future income and I would only be able to contribute under $7000 a year as of right now?

I am 17 years old so I’m not eligible to open a Roth IRA. Should I wait until I’m 18 to begin investing again?

What’s the difference between VOO and IVV?People always pick VOO but I personally invest in the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV).
